Yup removing them. Insurance is covering it as part of a larger claim - roof buggered and leaking, windows, aircons smashed as well

Howsit, I currently have 8 x 450 panels, but 2 got smashed by hail. I have space for another 2, so could do 10 panels total on my roof. Better to replace the existing panels with 450w and add 2 x 450w, 2 strings of 5 @ 45VOC (225VOC each)? Or keep existing panels and add a string of 4 x 545w @ 196 VOC? Prices of the 545w is actually marginally cheaper than the 450w for some reason. Roof is north facing, Sunsynk start up VOC is 150, so it should work but I don't know whether it will start producing from say 8am or only kick in at 11am? Is there somewhere where I can see a VOC graph on the sunsynk app?

Hi all. I have a 5kw Sunsynk with 8 x 450w Longi panels and 5kw battery. I'm planning on adding another battery soon along with 2 more panels. Panel specs: Maximum Power (Pmax/W): 450 Watts. Open Circuit Voltage (Voc/V): 49.7Volts. Short Circuit Current (Isc/A): 11.73Amps. Voltage at Maximum Power (Vmp/V): 41.9Volts. Current Maximum Power (Imp/A): 10.98Amps. Module Efficiency: 21.2%. Inverter: Max power input – 6500W Max V DC input – 370V (100V~500V) Max current input – 11A + 11A MPPTs – 2 MPPT Range – 125~425V I need to figure out whether I can run the 10 panels on 1 string or whether I should split them 1) Do I use VOC or VMP of the panels to calculate where the limit is? 2) Do i look at mppt range or max v dc input on the inverter? 3) How much headroom do I leave? 4) If i do need to split them, better to split 5-5 or 6-4 so the one string starts up sooner in the morning?

Around 20-30kwh, bulk of it during the day. There's a few outlier days where it goes to 40kwh, and on those days the panels have generated 20-24kwh

Hi all. I currently have a 5kw Sunsynk inverter paired with 5.12kwh LBSA battery and 8 x 455 watt panels. I want to outage-proof my system in case a substation blows or the weather is rainy or cloudy Options I'm considering 1) Adding a generator - have no idea what the minimum size is I would need. The battery charges at 50amps, so my guess is minimum 3000w (2500w battery and 500w base load on inverter). How would this connection flow? Generator between Eskom and Inverter with a CO switch or rather use the Aux port? Or is the Aux port for auto-start generators? I wouldn't be looking to power non-essential loads, mainly just charging the battery and carry base load. 2) Adding another battery. My panels have some excess capacity and battery is usually charged by 10:30am so should be able to get enough out of them most days to cover the extra battery, and the extra battery should easily handle the base load for another 8 hours. Please share your thoughts and any alternative ideas? Thanks

They said this is a very rare fault, but it's most likely a part fault as opposed to being caused by something. They checked the rest of the unit anyway for other potential faulty bits so that I don't have to make another trip and didnt mention any loose wires or arcs or burns, so I think it's just that bad luck of that single component failure

People in JHB and surrounds, @Leshen is your guy He sorted out a dodgy install an "approved" sunsynk installer did for me in Dec (which i found out had several CoC violations), also sorted out other dodgy wiring (I have no idea how this house got a CoC when we bought it!) And now, 6 months later I ran into an odd problem and @Leshen was helping me yet again at 21:30 to narrow down the problem He also did the install for my brother in law's system after I recommened him. Cannot reccommend him enough!

Took the battery to LBSA. Damn that thing is uncomforable to carry! They confirmed there was something wrong - I think the circuit breaker between the BMS and the terminals and fixed it while I was waiting Quite impressed by them Mounted the battery and all working perfectly again!

Thanks, tested the terminals directly on the battery and its reading 9v, same as what the inverter is reading. Battery BMS is reading 52v so maybe just a dodgy connection within the battery itself? Will give LBSA a shout today

Battery connection is good. I switched to both AGM % and AGM V and no success. I'm waiting for a firmware update, doubt that'll help but want to try that before I do a factory reset. LBSA says it sounds like an inverter issue, Sunsynk manual says F56 errors are the batteries fault... Not having much luck!

The battery screen isn't showing any faults or warnings, looks like the BMS and BMS comms to the inverter is off. Not sure what causes this if the SOC is read correctly. Battery showing 52.68V, inverter showing 9.67V

Further update Looks like this problem started a few days ago Also have F56 dc low voltage errors coinciding with that time, but only showing on the app and not the inverter For some reason it also shows "no battery" on the home screen, though it reads SOC correctly and gets the right readings from the li-bms screen

Update Power came back on and it started up but showed no load on any screens Went to the battery settings and ticked "activate" under the lithium and it showed load again, but no charging to the batteries. Couple of minutes later it made a tick like a switch went off and the red alarm light came on, and it showed grid and load as zero again. Again ticked and unticked the battery activate box and the alarm light went away and started showing grid and load values again. Still no charging of the battery though Also to note, there's been no change in my settings since previous rounds of loadshedding nor firmware updates. Is the battery of the inverter at fault here? Will see tomorrow whether it charges from solar or not

Hi all Something odd happened tonight My sunsynk inverter shut down a couple of minutes into loadshedding tonight. I have a LBSA battery connected to it, showing SOC 57%. Shut down is 20%. I cant start the inverter up at all. The blue light around the on/off button illuminates when i switch it on, but thats it. The screen on the battery is not showing any faults either. Any ideas?

Hi all, Is there a way to get the inverter to keep my batteries charged 100% without needing to adjust the SOC settings in the system mode screens? For example, I typically let my battery discharge to 30% overnight until 7am, then let the grid charge it to 40% until 9am and then let the panels do their thing until 17:30. That works well for me on a normal day, even stage 2 loadshedding, but today being stage 4 and raining I need to quickly get my batteries charged to 100% from the grid before loadshedding kicks in at 9 and the only way I could figure out was to change the SOC settings to 100% on the system mode 1 screen for this time window. Is there any other way to do this without messing with my timer settings? I had hoped unticking use timer and unticking priority load would work, but that didnt. Grid charge is ticked on my battery settings page.

So this is how the new little DB is wired. A and B go to the original DB, though I can't see which connects where because the same type of cabling was used in trunking which runs behind a cupboard There's also wires running from the PV fuse to the MPPT which I didnt draw in If I look at this diagram then the only other AC in position seems to be A?

Thanks! Your explanation on the CT makes sense, will go do some inspection on the how the wires flow and see if I can pick it up. I'll update the SOC settings, the idea was to make sure we have some juice in case of an outage (happens once every 2 weeks or so here...) but in hindsight we should manage with 40% SOC to start the day off with, so will maybe let it drop to 20% overnight and charge with grid to 40% from 5-6am

Hi all, Can someone explain what I need to change? My inverter is pulling from the grid when I have "limit to load only" unticked but when I tick "limit to load only" it starts pulling from the PV and only pulls the grid trickle feed from the grid Ticking and unticking priority load didn't have an influence, doesn't look like altering settings on the timer did either. Any advice? (btw this is a new install and I don't have much confidence in the installers knowledge of how Sunsynk's work)
