Solar Panel Direction for best PV production
I have been watching a few of Keith's (CEO Sunsynk) videos on YouTube. He emphasized a few times that VOC is most critical and must not exceed 450v per mppt string. And correct, temperature does play a role in increasing this voltage.

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
This was early morning, no PV.. This is where my CT is.. On the main incoming breaker from the outside box before it enters my house DB

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
OK so I did a test to see what is actually happening. The geyser is on and you can see the CT is seeing the geyser, however the Load(LD) not showing anything. If I look at the home screen, the grid icon is showing nothing and so to the hone icon.

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
@GTPappreciate it.. Also would be good to also know what is the correct method to tap of from the grid to the non essentials.. Maybe that could also be my issue

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
LOL, where is this exactly, My setup is as follows: Meter in the box ---- CT (in DB box).....Cable into my incoming 63A breaker for the house. Is this place incorrectly?

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
Oh, so the Solarman KWH monthly usages will only be essentials....eish... Disappointing as I will never know my true usage of my house per month....

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
@GTP, Another question, when there is Eskom and your non essential loads are on, does it shows on the inverter "Grid" icon and "home" Icon that is it using power from these circuits?

Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
Hello, I need some clarity and understanding of the modes of the Deye inverter and how these affect the essential and non essential loads. 1. Time of use Settings: In the evenings, if I setup the time of use to only use battery and not to charge from Grid and there is Eskom... 3 questions, are the essential and non essential loads supposed to be active in this mode? 2nd Question, if the load consumed by the house is higher than what the battery can supply, does the inverter get the extra from Eskom or is that function blocked unless I tick, "charge from Grid" and the SOC drops lower than a number I setup?, 3rd question: In this "time of use settings", if Eskom drops for whatever reason, then we are in mode noted below, normal UPS mode? 2. Eskom as main feed: If in the evenings, I decide to use Eskom only so no battery, I assume essentials and non essentials should all work. And in this mode, if Eskom stops, then only essentials will work... This is normal UPS setup If I understand correctly.

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
So you are doing the E/N bonding on the Eskom main DB before the Earth leakage and not on the inverter load output?

Oh wow.. Thank you.. Will play around the weekend 😁

Solar Panel Direction for best PV production
Thanks, so you are saying I should rather do NW facing 8 panels of 535W (4280W production) on one MPPT String (331V, which is less than 425V) due to the longer production time in that direction. And rather not face it N? If this is the case, I would need to see if I have space NW....

Solar Panel Direction for best PV production
Hello, I am looking at the Deye 5kw. I am thinking of going for the 595w or 560 X 8 panels. This way I can install all N facing. How do I work out if this is not too much Wattage or Volts for a single MPPT?

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
The earth bond device is a relay/contactor type of device. It gets activated by the inverter when the Eskom grid is lost. The earth is one correct.

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
I spoke to our company electrician who is certified and advises as per SANS rule, we can bond the E and N via the bridge wire on the diagram. He actually prefers this as apposed to the relay as he says being a mechanical device, failures can happen with these relays whereas direct connection there is no failure.

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
If you look at the manual, there is 2 diagrams shown. The one above this on the manual (shown below) does not bond the N and E. Maybe this is more of a better installation?

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
Got this from my Deye inverter manual. So it seems it does not need a earth bond relay as per Sunsynk setup?

Deye Hybrid Neutral bonding when off grid.
Hello.. Did you get any feedback? I have a Deye 5kw and want to know where to do this..

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
So I have a Deye inverter and NOT Sunsynk.. The attached links speaks of the earth bond contactor. I don't have the setting menu on my inverter he speaks of on my inverter. Therefore do I still need this piece of equipment? https://www.sunsynk.org/post/automatic-neutral-earth-bond

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
Great, thank you,. and where does the CT coil go?
-
Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
Can this not be accomplished via breakers? I.e. switch off breakers that feed the inverter system in case of issue on the Solar side and eskom would then only be active?
-
Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
Thanks for this, so I will ask the installer to remove it as not needed.
-
Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
And the CT coil is the key to this?
-
Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
Aaaha, so the deye has a built in changeover to battery when Eskom is lost...and what I am reading here the CT is the key to this? Is this correct....

Deye Inverter and Auto Changeover Switch
"This will more than likely be a problem with the CT coil placement. First check the installer has indeed installed the CT coil. Then make sure it is after non-essential loads, and just before the Eskom / Municipal meter. You will need to check the direction of the CT coil too. 👍", How do you check if the CT coil is connected in the correct direction?
