Thanks you everyone for the help on this topic... I would not have been able to make a good choice. Went with Paloma 26lt gas geyser from give it gas... Due to the demand stock is only arriving end of the month in SA. Hoping it will be installed by Sept. Will feedback after it's all done.

The give it gas team were excellent so far thank you @Leshen for the reference.
Hoping all will be smooth with installation and start up

Had my Gas geyser installed today
Went with the 20L Fan Forced Outdoor Room Sealed unit from Dewhot. SKU OD20DH
    Unit cost : R 13000
Gas piping and installation: R3100 (with COC)
Plumbing materials and installation : R2200
    2 x 19L Gas bottles R1900 including the deposit : R1900
The unit is using 220v AC - So the solar backup system is going to take care of power to the unit

    Fun Fact:
I connected a AC power meter to my old geyser circuit the last few days just to verify the power needed to keep the 200L geyser with warm water
I left it over a period of 3 days to get some level of consistency of power over a 24h period. considering the load shedding schedules etc.
This was important for me to know what I ACTUALY use from Eskom to power my geyser before they disconnect it.
    Consumption Electricity :
    Sun: 19.9Kw pd
    Mon: 20.1kw pd
    Tue: 18.7kw pd

Think about the numbers +/- 20Kw per day - 600Kw less to pay towards electricity bill
My unit rate is around R2.00 per KW - this is R14,400 per year.
Sure, I will spend money on Gas, but less dependency on a single point of failure.
I can highly recommend my installer - ping me if you need details

Will post some pictures in the next week.

From what I understand u can connect it to a UPS to help overcome the ignition problem during loadshedding

A Paloma 26l unit is around R13500 from Give it Gas.

Also give Wendy a call from Ecoblue. Excellent advice and service with the best prices.

A 48kg gas cylinder lasted 13 months and we had a Paloma 26l unit with a controller. Set the temp to 48. Was in series with our solar geyser.

Your choice to go with 26Lt is perfect, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Trust me, I have one and no regrets, never run out of instant hot water and no restrictions on the number of people using a shower or running a bath.

So the Liter capacity rating on Gas Geysers is the flow per minute
    6l - tap
    12 - 2taps / Shower
    16 - Shower
    20 - Shower + tap / bath
    etc
I've got 20Liter units installed for Bathrooms on my house and cottage, only thing that is a bit of a niggle is a bath takes longer to fill up and it takes some adjusting to learn how to work the type of gas geyser playing with the hot water settings (i'm using constant-flow/instant heating/battery ignited)
As long as you have gas you won't run out of hot water basically

Get hold of these guys for Paloma gas water heaters, they assisted me with mine last year and their installation quote was reasonable. Ended up doing DIY because I hate paying people for something that I can do myself
