  1. Good evening all My Mecer Axpert MKS IV had an issue where after a day or two the screen letters go all jumbled and you cannot read the characters when going though the menu settings - only a reboot would fix it. I then saw this posted under the downloads section: I proceeded loading the display firmware executing the file --Remote Panel_ReflashTool.exe-- in the folder and selecting MCU update as the hex file is called mcu.hex - port opened, connected and then proceeded to erase the flash, then UNABLE TO WRITE error. Obviously, the display is now not functioning. I can still connect to the inverter using WatchPower from my phone (EDIT unable to connect via Watchppower App) and SolarAssistant can no longer connect to the inverter via the serial port. I used the supplied serial cable and a USB to serial adapter. I noticed that the baud rate defaults to 19200 even if you set it to 9600 in the tool? Could the problem lie with my USB to Serial adapter perhaps? Gonna buy a serial PCI card for a PC I have extra here at home and try that as I saw on other threads that the USB to serial adapters do someties give problems. I really hope I haven't bricked the blerrie thing now... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Douw
  2. I think I answered my own question - tested it. The setting needs to be on USR
  3. Hi all Connecting the Dyness battery to SA via USB to RS485 and to inverter via USB to Serial - All comms is established Question - do you still use the USR setting for the battery on the inverter (Setting 05) or do you change it to PYL? Cheers
  4. SA got back to me to confirm that the Dyness reports 50AH but they are working on a fix for this. Its doesn't affect the battery runtime.
  5. Via a cable I ordered from SolarAssistant - Rasberry PI USB to Battery RS485 port
  6. Hi all I had to upgrade to a beta release of the SolarAssist software. All seems fine now excep that it reads the battery as 50Ah. But capacity SOC and Voltage readings look normal now at least.
  7. Hi all I just recently had a system installed with a Dyness BX51100 battery I am running SolarAsssitant to monitor things. The battery info is giving really weird results - could the BMS of the battery be faulty? See the reading on pack 1.
  8. From what I have researched you can expect a max of about 70% of your panels rated watts. I have 8 x 455w installed and today at max I was getting 2400w - it's winter and my panels are installed flat on my flat roof house (maybe a 10 degree pitch). So yeah a lot depends on how they are orientated, angled, time of year etc. The rated values are in perfect lab conditions
  9. Here is the interesting thing... The installer also installed for my brother-in-law, but the Mecer MX2 8K48V witht he same Dyness Battery as mine - works flawlessly. The user interface on that inverter is identical to mine.
  10. I have exactly the same inverter 🙂 with the same issue. So its also happening with you battery. Trust me I have tried every cable and pinout combination that I could find on the internet and this forum. I think its a firmware issue if you ask me. I am going to be setting up SolarAssistance when it arrives - will provide yoiu with feedback. They reckon it will sort out this issue - if it does it will be great and as an added bonus you get much better reporting on your system. I am also going to be getting my installed to check with Mustek on why this is happening - maybe you should too so they can see it's not an isolated problem.
  11. Having a look at Multisibcontrol. The USB cable between inverter, is that a standard USB cable with obviously the right connector on the inverter side? Then, the RS485 cable - I assume the one I ordered from solar assist will do the job here. Only downside I see with this system is you need a dedicated PC connected at all times. Not a trainsmash though.
  12. I tried @jumper pinouts - didn't work. Used mine as per previous post 1 -> 3 and 2 -> 5 - comms established but then gives error 61 after about 15 seconds - then after 2 min comms again - loop. So back to square one I guess. I have ordered a SolarAssitant box. Will let you guys know how that goes. For now just back to USR setting on battery. Thanks for all the help all.
  13. Thank you for the info...off to make the 20th cable now 🙂 Also I just want to confirm - when making the cable - is it only that one pair that I have to wire as per your pinouts? Can I ignore the rest if I am only going to use RS485?
  14. This also corresponds to what is available on the SolarAssistant website for the BX48100
  15. See the difference. Table 2-4 = B3 Table 2-5 = BX51100
  16. After a lot of research that pinout Sergey gave is for the Dyness B3 series The BX48100 and BX51100 use - (99% sure): DYN -> INV ; 1 -> 3, 2 -> 5 The Dyness side is from the battery manual. The Inverter side I am going on what I could find all over for Axpert
  17. Cable I got was at least clearly marked Battery and Axpert King I even made up a new cable now - same issue... I am just going to get the Solar Assistant
  18. I dont think very accurate is what I can say. It's working for now though. Step 1 today will be to remake the cable that came with the battery - just in case. If that doesnt work I will most likely be going to the Solar Assistant Rasberry Pi Platform. Also waiting to hear back from Dyness.
  19. Hi all Reviving this thread again. Had my Axpert MKS IV 5.6Kw paired with the Dyness BX51100 installed this week. Getting the dreaded error 61. The battery came with a pre-made cable labeled Axpert King which we are using. Battery set on inverter to PYL and jumper set to 0100 What is happening is the BMS and Inverter comms seems to be syncing (flashing heartbeat). It shows the correct battery capacity etc. Then after about 30 seconds error 61 occurs and the inverter flashes red. It flashes red for approx 2 min then it goes back to green with the heartbeat fucntioning as it should. This loop just continues. Any ideas what may be causing this? For now I am running the inverter on SBU mode and the battery set on USR with these settings CV - 56v FL - 55.5v Cut-off - 48v Back to utility - 50v Back to battery - 52v Max Charge Current: 40A Max AC charge current: 10A Are these settings safe for now? Cheers Douw
  20. Hi there all Made the leap to solar with backup power in the last week so far very happy with the system performance. Inverter: Mecer Axpert MKS IV 5.6Kw Battery: Dyness BX51100 Solar: JA Solar 8 x 455w Having some teething issues with the battery to inverter comms - will raise this in the other threads where applicable.
