Thanks = I knew that was going to be the conclusion - jump directly to 48v with a 5kW inverter - Yes, connected to solar panels - 4 x Vision 6Fm100Z 100AH batteries - 2 in series with the other two in parallel. Currently - I run the inverter from 8am to about 5pm without any problems up in Pretoria. I even run the pool pump during the hottest part of the day. 3Kw Geyser connected to a 20 tube solar collector. In the past 3 years, had to use mains on only 4 occasions! A massive saving! At least R1500 per month. Over the last 3 years, my electricity use (Eskom) was under R400 per month. 4 plate gas stove does the bulk of the cooking! Thanks for the info. Regards Z

Hi Guys.. I currently run a small 3KVA Growatt inverter (24v). this was installed quite a few years ago, mainly to keep my son studying from home to have break-free power supply during the load shedding period and during Covid years when all classes / exams were on-line. The batteries then bought, is reaching their end of life!!! I am looking to upgrade from 24v to 48v in the years to come. Is there a 48v (52v) battery out there 100Ah that I can configure as a 24v 200Ah battery whilst the 24v system is still working? I prefer LiFePO4! Cheers Z
  3. Good day guys! In 2024, what is the best buy (value for money) Li Ion or LiFePO4? Personally I would go for LiFePO4 - this is based on smaller projects (not solar) that I'm involved with - this is purely based on preference not technical comparison. What are the views of forum members? I know different manufacturers use different quality cell to make up the battery, and there are possible duds around. So, purely Li Ion vs LiFePO4 - who comes up trumps in 2024 and onwards. Cheers Z PS - LiFeTIDE 5120Wh LiFePO4 51.2V 100Ah Battery - does anybody have experience with this battery? (this is currently on my shopping list)

  6. Heavy on the eyes - esp. for the over 65 year olds! Is that correct, the neutral output from the inverter, to the earth bar? Or, is my eyes playing tricks?
  7. Contact details?

  9. Thanks guys - Appreciated. Maybe a further question. Is the neutral wire in and out common through the inverter? Or, does the differ from various makes of inverters. (Growatt 5kVA) And, what will happen if the two neutral are connected together - tracing all those black wires could be a real pain! Also, does anybody have a circuit diagram and component layout of the 3kVA Growatt 24v inverter?
  10. On installation:- Does one feed the power to the inverter via the earth leakage or does the output of the inverter go via an earth leakage? Or, do we feed the mains directly to the inverter with an earth leakage at the output? Or, do we use two earth leakage 'switches'? One on the input and a second switch on the output. If you wire the Geyser and Air conditioner directly to mains trip (via a earth leakage 'switch', and all other plugs and lights via a smallish inverter (5kVA), is it better to have two neutral bars - one feeding the aicon and geyser, and the other (neutral bar) for all the other circuits. See attached!
  11. This you can do in your settings OR if you want to run on your battery at certain times, just cut (switch off) the input trip switch that feeds the ac to the inverter.
  12. What is your contact details? I'm not sure if it is wise to put it on the forum????
  13. What happens if you remove the load from the inverter - and every five minutes (or longer), switch one trip of the load back - to increase the load to the inverter. If you find the trip that causes the problem, with the power off check if there is no earth leakage between the live wire and the earth point (use a multi-meter). I have a similar problem at my sons place - I suspect an earth and the neutral wire is in contact - the trip that kicks the inverter out, works perfectly when connected to the Eskom supply - even through the earth leakage. This is due to the earth and Neutral being connected together on the feed outside the house.
