HOW MANY KWH CAN I DRAW FROM MY BATTERY?
I would change the geyser element to a 2000W one, then your solar should be ok to power the geyser without the battery. May take slightly longer to heat but the sun is free.

So the one on the far right is the RJ45 cable pin layout for the mecer Max 2 Can-Bus cable for the battery, using pins 2, 4 & 5 The inverter uses 6, 7 & 8 see further below cloudlink & pin layout PLEASE NOTE: Below are the recommended pin layouts for the Cloudlink to inverter cable connection. Custom RJ12 to RJ45 wire only - 450mm length. Ensure that the clip is pointed away from you when counting the pins. The Hubble Lithium BMS pinouts are the same as the Cloudlink CAN pinouts. PIN CLOUDLINK S-PORT (RJ12) INV-RS232 (RJ45) CLOUDLINK - CAN (RJ45) BATTERY-CAN (RJ45) 1 12V N/A N/A N/A 2 N/A GND GND GND 3 CLOUDLINK RX N/A N/A N/A 4 CLOUDLINK TX CAN-H CAN-H CAN-H 5 GND CAN-L CAN-L CAN-L 6 N/A N/A N/A N/A 7 - N/A N/A N/A 8 - GND N/A N/A The end that plugs into the inverter has a different pin layout, and looks like a crossover connection. Is this correct?

Having difficulty understanding Hubble AM2 instructions
Does the balancing happen over several days, or only in a couple of hours. I have notice a lot of switching between the two batteries when it is fully loaded, and I suspect this has to do with the balancing of the two batteries. It is the first time I have noticed this, but is now going on for several days. The reason I have set the cut off to 45, is that Hubble recommends 44-45. My whole home electrical network is connected to the system, not only essentials, and I have yet to end below 50% SOC at any given time, so it does sometimes happen that the batteries supplies some power to heat the geyser, especially on cloudy days. I do however manage this so that the batteries don't work too hard.

Hallo all I have logged a enquiry with Hubble Support today, regarding my AM2 batteries discharging un-equally, resulting in the one battery's cycles to going out of sync. I have a 8kW Mecer Max II inverter, connected to 10x600w solar panels, and I use ICM as my solar management. The solution from Hubble Support is the following: Please may you kindly try the following, Please check all the batteries are at the same level of charge and the dip switch settings are correct. If the batteries are not at the same SOC please charge each battery up individually as described below. If the batteries are at the same voltage and dip switches done correctly you may leave the batteries connected in parallel and kindly follow the instructions below. 1) Disconnect the CAN comms cable. 2) Change the battery type o the inverter to AGM V. 3) Please input the Float, Bulk and equalization Voltage at 53,6Vdc. 4) Please set the Low Voltage to 44Vdc. 5) Kindly charge up battery until the inverter stops charging the battery at 53.6Vdc, this may take some time as the battery will do a cell balance at full voltage. 6) Once inverter has stopped charging, kindly reconnect your CAN cable and go back into your inverter battery menu and activate the Lithium settings and CAN communications. I am not sure I understand precisely what to do regarding step 6, and does the CAN cable refer to the cable connected to my ICM Raspberry Pi? Please help a bean counter out 😳

Hallo Aleks I have very recently switched on my solar system, and so far I am very happy with it. My whole house is connected, geyser and stove included, and thus far I have been lucky enough not to have used a single watt from the grid. My geyser is however connected to a Geyserwise system, which switches on twice a day, during peak sun shine. I do however find that on very cloudy days, the geyser taps in too much into the batteries, and I would like to be able to switch the geyser off during such times, or when I can see that the geyser is already warm enough through Geyserwise. Does SONF have a geyser switch that I will be able to remotely control the on and off switch. The geyser is 3000w, 150L Janosh

Hallo Sparky Nice to follow your thread, and it appears that your system is starting to come nicely together. I switched my system on 17 October 2022, and has up to now, not used a single watt from the grid, which makes me very happy. I have installed a Mecer 8kw Max 2 inverter, with 10x600w Canadian solar panels, and 2x5.5 AM2 Hubble batteries. My monitoring is done via Raspberry ICM, which seems tp be working brilliantly so far. Must say that the weather has also been good up to now. The next step is also now to connect some devices to sonof, of which one will be the geyser. Greetings from Gauteng!

Sorry I did not notice your question earlier. Budget was the main reason for my choice, but I did a good bit of research and was happy that this inverter will do what is required. It is fully compatible with the BMS of Hubble batteries.

Charging Hubble AM2 for the first time
I have tried to search for a similar topic but was unable to find anything. I have a 8kW Mecer Max II inverter which will be connected to 2 x Hubble AM2 batteries. With one being the master, and the other the slave, how do you charge each of the batteries to full as per the instruction below. Should only the battery being charged be switched on, and the other one off? Should you only connect the one being charged to the inverter with the dip switched set to master? How does this work? WARNING: PROTECTION MODE If your batteries are unbalanced or the voltage of each pack is different by more than 2 Volts DC then your packs will try to inter balance by over 100Amps. This could cause the other batteries in the configuration to Over Current and go into protection mode. If this occurs, charge each pack full individually with the inverter/ charger, then switch the other packs on once each has been charged to 100%.

Thanks for sharing your solar experience with the rest of us. It surely should motivate more people to go the solar way, as it makes absolutely sense. What I have also noticed, is that you do indeed not go that big for a start. I am now more than ever convinced that my 8kW inverter will provide for almost all of my needs.

I have taken the loose wire issue up with the supplier. They will replace the three panels that has these defects. That's one reason why I like to do business with companies that has good customer and "Hello Peter" ratings. They will almost always stand by you.
