Luxpower 6kVA MPPT fault
I am current struggling with similar issue on a 5kva Luxpower connect to 6 panels (about 3kWp). Normally in mid day sit should charge about 2.4kW. However it charge only at 1.4kW. Plenty of capacity left to charge batteries. When I drop the PV load and pick it up again the solar harvesting picks up and runs normal for the rest of the day. Then the next day the same issue happens agains.

There is 10900kwP connected but at that point in time It could only generated the 1.54Kw. was just wondering what make it decide to import 2.61 kwso it could charge at 60A. Looked like abitrary number based on other limits at the time.

I recently had some issues where my the 40A breaker to my inverter trips when it is cloudy and the inverter import a lot power to maintain load and charge battery - typically when the time of use minimum SoC steps up when another time slot in entered. I tried to figure out where to limit grid charge rate without affecting charge rate from PV input. At some point I observed the following: Load 0.52Kw, PV Input 1.54 Grid Input 2.61 and Battery charge at 3.37kw (60A). Soc was at 57% and I unticked time of use at this point. I cannot figure out where the 60A rate is coming from. I have 4x Shoto 5.12 batteries. At the time LiBMS reported max charge rate of 200A (0.5C) and voltage of 53.92V Grid charge on Battery Setting page was 38A and Max A charge at 160. Disable float charge is unticked. I am trying to figure out where the charge rate comes from. Thanks for any pointers. Jacques

I guess the final answer depends on if your firmware will allow operating to 21.4A. As user reported here for Deye it is more like 20A.

I can try and simulate the expected clear sky output for a specific date for you if you give me approximate roof tilt and facing direction (if you have anything more detailed than just N or E. -and maybe a system dump of the existing power profile for the current installation for calibration. Maybe PM me.

what is your I_pmax and V_pmax for your panels? You correctly stated the config of my panels - what I omitted to say is that NE is 8x455W +8x460 and NW is 8x455. V-I curves for the 455 and 460 are virtually the same to the exent it can be ignored. Deye upgrade my firmware yesterday and I suspect it now limits my amps on the MPPT1 to 19.4 as oppsed to 20A I have seen before and 22A on spec sticker.

I suspected 20A clipping as well but from the data it seem there is 9000W clipping as well since during this time, the amps on the mppt starts to run down from 20A to 18A. For the last few days I ran into 20A limit before I ran into 9000W limit. Fortuanately production is more than sufficient for load and recharging. Just frustrate me that I carefully contemplate design to to be within spec just to tripped up with misleading specs in the end. Thanks for following up as well.

I asked Deye yesterday to upgrade firmware and in follow up I asked about clipping. The replied with: which works out to be 10400W which contradicts what they told you.

I ramped up essential load to about 7.5kw to make space for power import while testing - that was why the battery amps reduced. I would have liked to have say 7kw on inverter and 3.4kw on battery if needed. Had a few cases where I charged at close to 7kw. (3 x 5.12kw battery bank)

Deye 8kw Power DC Clipping at 9000W
I have recently installed another 8 panel string of 460W panels and parralelled connecting it with almost identical string to MMPT1. This two string are facing NE. Another NW facing string of also 8 panels is on MPPT1 on Deye 8kw inverter. I suspected clipping soon after installation but thought it was marginal and I thought the 9000w was just what I was getting from irradiation at that point. Today I checked data directly on the inverter and noticed the following: The MPPT1 input voltage started to run up to 20 amps and yielded about 6300W. At that point MPPT2 started to catch up but when it got to 2700W the total inverter output started to be clipped at 9000W. As MMPT2 ran up further it was evident that MPPT1 was proportionally cutting back to maintain total output at 9000W (actually 8999W). Amps on MMPT1 reduced from 20 to 18 and volts increased. Ip_max is around 11.1 for panels so I was expecting clipping at 22A on the MMPT1. Inverter rated DC input is 10400W. I also does not seem to be max MMPT power (never read of such thing though) because it dot not clip MPPT1. During the time, battery amps was well within range as load was around 7000W so there was no other constrains. Max solar power setting was 10380W, which I lowered to about 10000W to see if it would activate something. Firmware is 6014-1724. Inverter was installed in Oct 22 and I think it had only one firmware upgrade via installer after it showed some serious hunting on Solar Power inputs few months after installation. Yes, and he quoting to strip the installation and redo it with panel lights for grid connection etc. I am waiting for him to send me screenshot of the code requiring it.

Thanks, the DC and AC are in separate conduits that are in turn grouped in a larger rectangular trunking.

I had a solar system installed in Oct 22 and was issued with COC. All AC and DC protection devices was installed in same DB box. DC on top row and AC on bottom row. Last week I had new string added by different installer but he tell me that SANS code now requires that all DC and AC are split and he have to do that before he can issue new COC that is triggered by the addition to the the system. Can anyone that is up to date with the code please comment on this requirement?

Notification required when borehole motor starts
I have borehole motor that is manged by smart controller based on various levels. The controller is always powered but pump relay not closed. I would like to wire a device to the controller output to detect 220V voltage present and send push notifcation and make entry in log file. Do I need something like load shedding detector or can SonOff mini work on its own?

Recommend approach to expand solar input power on Deye 8.8.
I am now pretty much battery limited and might import 4-6kwh during the night and early morning. Running stove and oven as non-essentials. Current have 3 x 5.12kwh Shoto batteries with DOD set at 22%. How much more can I squeeze out there without killing them prematurely?

Great stuff, ordered 8 of these and had it installed on Friday for total installed capacity of 10.9kw. Currently peaking at 8.6kw. I limited my inverter Solar intake at 10.38kw to match the 10.4kw nameplate spec should it ever get there.

@Scorp007 and @GreenFields. I checked historic data for my setup and noticed events where my 7.2kwP system delivered almost 9kw for a short term, typically on cool day when sun peaks around some cloud cover. (see trend attached) Current to each MPPT already at 14.4 during this short event so another 8 panels NE facing in parallel to existing NE facing 8 panel string will def push MPPT amps to like 28.9 and power above 10.4kw rated for Inverter. Should margin be built in to accommodate these spikes?

I had an Deye 8.8 Hybrid inverter installed in Oct 2022. The installer configured array of 10 panel NW facing and array 6 panels NE facing and connected them both in parrallel to single MPPT. Subsequently in Nov 23 I had the configuration changed to 8 panel NW facing and 8 panels NE facing, wired to separate MPPTs to take advantage of the second tracker and to get rid of the voltage imbalance. The latter configuration surprisingly only generated about 5% more power over the span of a day. The existing panels spec are: Pmax=455W, Vmp= 41.14V, Imp=11.07,A Voc=49.68V, Isc=11.6A. I want to add more panels but cannot get the same panels so I am reluctant to add to other panels to the existing array. I can get the following: Pmax=460W, Vmp= 37V, Imp=12.44A, Voc=45.51V, Isc=13.31A. I do not want to wire more panel in series with any of the two arrays since those panels might catch some shade for an hour or so and I do not want to pull down the current of the whole array. I was thinking of combining existing array 1 and 2 again in parallel and move to one MPPT and wire a few more panels to second MPPT and deal with occasional shade on that array. However, it seems that combining the existing two array in parallel will yield 23.2A Isc for the MMPT that is above spec of 22 for the MPPT. Will appreciate some suggestions and recommendations. Deye Invertor Modes and Essential and Non Essential Loads Operation
This is probably why Sunsynk upgrades the user interface on what is otherwise Deye hardware. If the CT is abobe non essentials and you tick zero export to CT you should be able to power non essentials. The display however will probably not reflect this in a very user friendly way. But between external and internal CT one should be able to figure out what goes to non essential.

Yes, which can be challenge to convince some installers that is should not be inside inverter but upstream of non essentials.

Displaying Essential and Non-essential loads on UPS/Backup Sunsynk Inverter
If understand correctly, the non-essentials cannot be powered by inverter when power down. What will happen if zero export to CT is tick, non essential load is powered by inverter and the battery drops to minimum defined value specified in "time of use"? Will it reduce export to non-essential and eventually take in power from inverter? My installer incorrectly (I believe) installed the CT inside the inverter on the grid input. There leads is about 15cm so I cannot even move it out to the DB next to the inverter where the grid is now incomming.
