  2. I acquired a 5Kw Luxpower inverter 11 months ago. Up until a few days ago it has worked well. I was so pleased that I persuaded 3 other people in our retirement village to buy a Luxpower inverter. I usually check the App everyday to see how it is performing, however this last weekend I was busy and I only recorded my electricity consumption. I was horrified to se how much electricity I had used compared to other days even though the sun was shining. I then looked at the app only to horrified that there was no solar power being used despite the sunshine. I then had the installer come on look and he discovered that the MPPT board had a fault. Fortunately he could connect the panels to the 2nd string. This is the rub. I have to pay the installer to remove my converter and pay transport fee to send it back to Powerforum who I bought it through and then when it is repaired I have to pay to have it reinstalled. Through no fault of mine I have incurred this extra expense. I feel the Luxpower should cover this expense. I am extremely disappointed in this product and lost confidence as I am not sure that after I get it back it will give more trouble and more expense. Also if I had bought it locally it would have been easier to take it back to the store. I have been told that it has to be sent to Johannesburg. H. Venter
  3. Hi All Thanks for your input. It is most appreciated. Have ordered another panel.
  4. Hi I have recently installed a 5Kw LuxPower inverter and a 5Kw Greenrich battery. I have 5 JA 455 w mono Perc panels. 1. Firstly how much power can I expect from these panels on a good sunny day? At the moment they are producing around 1700 to 2000 w. In the past 16 days my consumption has slightly exceeded solar power output eg yesterday - solar production 8.1 Kw and consumption 9.3Kw. Had 10 days out of 16 slightly exceeding consumption. In the morning around 10 - 10.30 am the battery is fully charged and I start using only solar power. Then in the evening after sundown I use battery power. The lowest battery power was down to 14% after 3 days of rain and outages. At the moment I am running 2 fridges, LED lights, microwave, air fryer, TV, computer and at times the air conditioner. I try to use the air conditioner only when battery is full and tap into solar power. Even then it starts taking some power from the battery. 2. This is what I really want to know should I install another panel to make it six panels? Will it give me the extra energy I need to cover consumption? I hope for some answers soon as the installer is coming back soon to do some cosmetic work and give me the COC. If I need to add a panel I would like him to finish the job. Thanks Heinz

  10. I installed five 455w JA solar panels, 5kw LuxPower inverter and 5 Kw GreenRich battery as suggested by Steve. The installer is from Wartburg in KZN. Just had a little bit of trouble getting the battery to talk to the inverter. However once we had the right cable everything fell into place. The system is working well. Have moved the geyser and stove to Escom otherwise everything else works from the panels and battery. We seem to have hit the right combination as we have not had to change anything. Fridges are running off the system as well as airfryer, microwave, kettle, iron, pressure cooker, TV and lights. Don't even know when there is an outage. The bonus is I saved R300 on my electricity bill last month even though we had a lot of rainy days. Heinz
  11. Hendrik Potgieter 0740771392. He installed my system and I am very happy with his work. Always ready to go the extra mile. Although based in Wartburg he does travel to other towns. Heinz
