No I don't have the SolarMD logger. But I do know the installer did connect a comms cable between the battery and inverter. Maybe confirm with your installer if they did this, or otherwise if you are brave here are my settings that are working for me- Advice required: Built-in inverter and batteries with solar options...
Get an idea of 1. Average KWH consumption per day = idea of no panels and battery requirements, size of inverter 2. What is maximum load at any time (without a meter need to calculate using appliance watt specs) = size of inverter 3. Average KWH consumption at night (winter = 16+ hours) = battery size If you are going to jump in then consider more than the just loadshedding, look more at investing in reducing your need to use Eskom as little as possible. The big bucks are in what you don't pay to Eskom. The returns on the investment is that money that you would pay to Eskom, that you would be paying back to yourself, and after 6/7 years will make a profit for you because the system will be paid off and that money goes directly into your bank account. A loadshedding solution works out to be a convenience but saves very little. Scrap together as much as you can in the beginning, and/or plan a schedule to upgrade to the final solution https://globalsolaratlas.info/map?c=-31.358328,19.660034,7 is a good site to get an idea how much solar you can generate in summer/winter at your location https://app.opensolar.com/#/home allows you to build and test solar solutions, including shading issues - free account You can provide me your location and your expected average KWH usage per day, and I could build a energy profile for you- Sunsynk 12kw with SolarMD S4143
I have exact same battery, only on a 8KV Sunsynk. My settings are set to Lithium and using the CAN. Not had an ounce of problems in 6 months, including a situation recently where the SOC reached the shutdown level and the system shutdown and immediately restarted charging and reusing the battery once the PV and grid came back without any intervention I think get your installer to install correctly. Can provide my setting values if you would like- Sunsynk 5kW continually consumes 250W of Eskom power but reports 0W import - Please help!
I have my trickle feed set to 20w. Even though I did not use any power from the grid, except for the trickle, and the app only showing less than 1KWH, I was using 1.3 - 1.5KWH per day as per the prepaid meter Once stage 6 loadshedding came into play I noticed that this amount reduced dramatically because the grid was simply not available I started physically switching off the mains in the early morning once the PV was active, and only switched it back on before retiring for the night. This way I have managed to reduce the grid usage (as per my prepaid meter) down to 0.1 - 0.3 KWH for the day I have since added a smart switch between the mains switch and the CT coil which allows me to remotely switch on/off the grid, as well as schedule automatic switch on times so that I don't end up with no grid power in the early mornings because I forgot to switch the grid back on Sunsynk is bringing out a smart switch feature in the next few months which I am hoping will be able to be integrated so that the switch can be switched on based on SOC and switched off based on PV and SOC parameters (yet to see how far they take this idea of a smart switch) - Sunsynk 12kw with SolarMD S4143
