COJ, CP & Off Grid Systems
Thanks for the info @Bobster. Hmmm, not sure what the correct way forward is. (1)There is a part of me that still thinks this, like the whole e-tolls saga will blow over once enough people have said they will disconnect completely, thus drying up their revenue greatly. (2)Other part is telling to just disconnect now and get it over and done with. (3)Then there is the procrastination part of me, do nothing and see what happens, haha. PS, I am directly with Eskom in Fourways. Not via CoJ/CP.

Have they outlined, what these "fines" will be? As far I can tell, it's still very much a grey area. I am still of the opinion, that when they come knocking, I'll just tell them to disconnect me, and be done with it. I've been following your thread on MyBB. Are you still confident that you'll be disconnected, and sorted soon?

COJ, CP & Off Grid Systems
This is new. They didn't require it before. In fact, my prepaid was done by Eskom, after my solar was installed. Had the Eskom guys checking the system out when they did my move from postpaid to prepaid, and they were all happy back then (circa 2022/3)

Off course you need a CoC for your house, for insurance reasons, if anything goes wrong, also when you sell, you require a CoC to be done. This however, has nothing to do with Eskom/COJ, what happens inside your property, aft of their connection in the street, is not their indaba. Yes, off course they can dictate what they want if you feed into the grid (their network), this also, is normal, and understandable. My concern/issue, is that I don't want to move from a prepaid system that I've been on for many years, working flawlessly, to a postpaid system. When that day comes, when they knock on my door, I will tell them, disconnect me from the grid.

COJ Voluntary Disconnection
What regulation is this? I am on prepaid. Have been for years. Moved over to prepaid after my solar installation. I am a direct Eskom customer, in Fourways. This whole "prepaid = bad" is a new thing. In the 2010s all the municipalities/Eskom were begging people to go the prepaid route, as it saved them a hell of a lot of admin, and prepaid is slightly more expensive per unit, or at least it was when I did the conversion, but talking cents here, so not a big deal. The powers that be, realized they killed the goose laying the golden eggs, in that all the people that went solar, were the people that were actually paying their bills. Now they want to move everyone back on to post-paid, as it is the only way to "tax" us more. It has nothing to do with the prepaid smart meters not working properly with grid-tied systems, BS! Myself, and many of my mates have been running prepaid with our systems for years, without any issue. This is 100% a money grab. Like I said on another thread. The day they stop at my house, telling me to register, and move to postpaid... on that day, I'll tell them, cut me off right now, right here.

COJ, CP & Off Grid Systems
I'm on pre-paid, direct with Eskom. When the day comes that they want to move me over to post-paid, and/or register, on that day I will tell their technicians to disconnect me at the street. Everything inside of that, is not their concern. My COC has noting to do with them, and all the wiring aft of the street, has nothing to do with them.

SunSynk 8kw Install. Please comment on settings.
Hi, Yes, I'm also confused with the "TIMER SETTINGS" Cause it doesn't matter if you have "GRID" checked or un-checked. It still uses the values you have. Only when you disable the "TIMER" completely that it ignores the %-settings you configured...

Ahhh ok. Yeah, I thought it best to try and keep the batteries above a certain SOC, even on rainy days, as one never knows when a bout of load-shedding could last potentially longer, or something goes wrong. Normally, my batteries are back to 100% before 11:00 in the morning, and they stay that way until around 17:00 eish, when the sun no longer does it's thing. Well now in the winter months, this is what I'm finding. In the morning when we wake up, the battery is around the 52/54% SOC mark. Sometimes, its on 50% then obviously, the grid had kept it there. (I recently moved the SOC from 50% to 40% in that time slot) Am I playing it too safe you think? What do you suggest one sets the grid charging to?

Thanks for the feedback. I was under the impression that one needs to have at least 20w trickling to make sure your pre-paid smart meter form Eskom doesn't have a wobble? Am I understanding you correct, you are suggesting I should only trickle 20w during the day? Where do I set that?

Good day guys, I had a system installed end of January '23. I've been reading up, and adjusting here & there a little bit. My system is working great. But I do just want to make sure I'm not missing something that you guys with more knowledge could perhaps point me to. Please comment on my settings. My system is as follows... 1X - 8Kw SunSunk Inverter 2X - Hubble 5,5Kw AM-2 batteries 16X - 460w Panels ( 2 strings of 8 ) Generator input to charge batteries (hopefully never to be used)

New SunSynk & Hubble installation.
Howdy, I recently had 16x 460w panels (2x 8 strings) installed. 1x 8kw SunSynk inverter. 2x 5,5kw Hubble AM-2 batteries. Sofar so good. Busy reading a lot, and getting to grips with all the features, and settings. Hope to learn a lot more here. PS, installation is in Fourways, Gauteng. Chris
