2 x fuse disconnect units. 4 fuses. Yes 2 positive and 2 negative fuses. It is just better for current splitting and if you need to isolate 1 battery for any given reason. The single fuse holder with 2 x 160 amp fuses is rated a bit low. The current draw from the 8kw inverter could be 166 amps without surge so i would have rated the single fuses holder @ 200amps with 2 x 200 amp fuses. 2 fuse holders @ 100amps fuses as the batteries is paralleled each battery 100 amps. Remember the current flow through the battery is in series from the inverter to the pos back through the neg so any of the 2 fuses should been rated at max current draw 8000w/48v= 166amps x 1.25 = 208 amps so standard fuse size will be 200amps.

The keypad needs an unfiltered path to the meter to allow it to communicate over the mains cabling. So if all of your plug points are on the essential circuits of your inverter, you may find it impossible to communicate with the meter.
Note that the keypad should also have a battery in it that will allow it to talk to the meter even if the meter is not allowing AC to pass through it due to depleted units. If the battery in the keypad is flat, perhaps try replacing those cells?
It *might* be possible to replenish your meter by taking your keypad to your less privileged neighbour, so long as they are on the same phase as you. But I would not count on it.

Don't say goodbye to Eksom just yet, but do look forward to being a lot less reliant on them. There will be days when the sun don't shine, and on those days a grid connection will come in handy. Sure it will be up & down, but if it goes up & down to schedule, then you can figure out when to make use of it.
Go conservative at first. Back up the essentials, certainly leaving out the geysers, the pool pump, and the electric oven. Then watch the system, see how much spare capactity you have and then maybe you can start moving more over to the backed up side of the DB.
Same with settings. Discuss these with the installer, go with their default, but then watch and tweak.

The current system to be installed in the next week:
8Kw Deye inverter 2x 5.1 kw Volta batteries 10x 545w Panels (JA) Still have many questions with regards to my geysers, geyserwise, inverter settings, app connectivity, devices comms and solarman but I will get there with some more reading 😀
Estimated daily consumption of +-20kwh and hoping to draw in +-26kwh as per online calculators.
Any red flags or any advice to ask the installers?
Has anyone used It's Home Electrical (Pty) Ltd?
