Growatt SPF-5000-ES and Diesel Generator
Done ! finally i found the Inverter parameter. I fail myself. You need to update configuration in menu 3 and set Generator for AC input voltage range (GEN). Appliance selected by default (APL). If this thread can serve someone else, please keep it. thanks for reading.

Growatt SPF-5000-ES and Diesel Generator
Hi, After solving my problem with this great forum, I'm back with another question. This time, about diesel generator. I recently bought a diesel Generator because in French Guiana, you can easly have more than 5 days of cloud cover. In my case, i'm completely autonomous and I don't have Grid power due to my isolated location. I have connected the diesel Generator to my inverter using AC input. But when i'm starting the generator, my inverter won't connect his power and indicates no current. Only voltage and frequency are displayed on the inverter screen. In the manual, I saw that normally there is a link between AC IN and the inverter on screen. In my case nothing append. Here is a picture of when the generator is running. As you can see, they are no current in the AC input This is my generator : My configuration is : 1 x Inverter Growatt 5kW 48V - MPPT 100A - SPF5000-ES 10 x Solar PV 400W Mono - Vertex S - TrinaSolar 4 x battery Lithium 2.4kWh - US2000C - Pylontech 48V - 50Ha If someone has any experience about this problem or any feedback, please help me to find a way. thanks for reading at all. Growatt Inverter + Pylontech Batteries : BMS Comms Guide
Awesome, Fantastic my friend !!!! Good job ! You are the best ! My problem was the wiring pins schematic of the RJ45 in the SPF 5000 ES manual... Growatt reversed the pin numbers .... but I checked on this thread and I saw the correct wiring. Definitely lack of serious of growatt service .... In the documentation, nothing is clear ! You just want to replace it ? you can't ! You have to build another cable, change communication port, change battery DIM, change inverter config !!! Same inverter model, same ref ! It's catastrophic ! So, for thoses who are in the same configuration as me please follow this method. My configuration : 1 x Inverter Growatt 5kW 48V - MPPT 100A - SPF5000-ES 10 x Solar PV 400W Mono - Vertex S - TrinaSolar 4 x battery Lithium 2.4kWh - US2000C - Pylontech 48V - 50Ha 1) find the inverter version depending on the COM board version. The Old version doesn't have 3 leds. 2) The old inverter version, plug directly the standard RJ45 cable from battery (A/CAN) to the inverter (CAN). Keep all battery DIM switchs set to 0000. Select in inverter configuration : 5-LI, then 36-L52 2-bis) if new version COM board, build a new cable using paring 1,2 => 7,8. see previous message in this thread. then, change DIM switch to 0001. Plug the new cable for Battery (RS465) into the inverter (BMS) input. Select in inverter configuration : 5-LI, then 36-L04 or L02. One last thing, I can't understand which one is the best protocol for communication between L02 or L04. Does anyone have any experience of feedback with it ? I opened a ticket support with Growatt since 5 days without getting any response ! I will let them back to me and I will post their responses. I have..... I am practically sure that they will fail to help me. Thanks for everything. don't hesitate to contact me if needed. Alex

Growatt Inverter + Pylontech Batteries : BMS Comms Guide
Bad news, no communication between the both... I created a custom cable by cutting an another RJ45 cable and mapping pin1->pin8 and pin2->pin7. I tested the cable using a multimeter. I'm 100% sure the it work ! Then, 1) shutdown the battery and update DIP switch of primary to (0001). 2) connected the inverter to the battery using the BMS (INVERTER) / B-RS485 (BATTERY) port with my fresh custom cable. 3) Start the battery and then inverter and update the Program 5 in config I also test configuration L01, L02, L03, L04.... none of them work. At this stage, i'm sure the custom cable work. I'm sure that my battery communicate correctly (i roll back to the older inverter SPF). My hypotheses are : - Maybe the inverter com board is broken. but the inverter is freshly unpackaged. Never used. - The configuration of the program 5 have change between the old and the news SPF-5000-ES What could you think about it ? Take care.

Growatt Inverter + Pylontech Batteries : BMS Comms Guide
Yes exactly what i've seen in the documentation. but about the protocol in the inverter. L01, L02 ... which one is the correct ? is there any documentation about these +50 battery protocal listing ?

Growatt Inverter + Pylontech Batteries : BMS Comms Guide
I don't place the both inverter in parallel. The new one is just normally a spare. (plug and replace). The problem if i not mistaken is that RS485 require a specific cable which is not supply with. Have you been getting experience with RS485 using RJ45 CAN cable ? I saw someware that CAN/BMS input is same.

Growatt Inverter + Pylontech Batteries : BMS Comms Guide
Hello, I'm exactly in the same configuration than this user : I bought my first Growatt inverter on 05/2021. My actual configuration with the first Inverter is : 1 x Inverter Growatt 5kW 48V - MPPT 100A - SPF5000-ES 10 x Solar PV 400W Mono - Vertex S - TrinaSolar 4 x battery Lithium 2.4kWh - US2000C - Pylontech 48V - 50Ha The system work and battery communicate with the inverter using CAN/RJ45. My battery program selected in the inverter is : Li program 05-36-L52. All Pylontech battery have DIP Switch in 0000. Since a frog was entering into the inverter last year, I decided to buy a new one as a spare this year and i recently received the package. I saw that there is a little difference between both inverters located on the communication board. OLD Inverter : New Inverter : Board communication are differents. My problem is when i'm changing the inverter, the new one won't communicate to the battery and indicates ERROR 20 / 4 alternatively and finishes to shutdown. I have exactly the same configuration and wiring, and I'm configuring the Inverter with the same Battery parameters (Li program 05-36-L52). but for an unknown reason, the inverter won't communicate to the battery and I was obliged to switch on the old inverter. I rolled back to my first inverter due to the BMS communication problem. The both are the same inverter model (Growatt SPF 5000 ES). The only difference is that the new one has a different communication board. Test L51, L53 .... nothing change. I'm using the same wire and RJ45 cable (just unplug and replug to the new one). Could you please help me to solve this problem if any of you have already been in the same situation. Best regards to all
