I've got the same setup. You don't have to run any battery software. They are fully compatible.
Switch off both. No utility power connection or solar panel connection. Then connect the Inverter BMS port with the Volta CAN port. Leave off for a full minute. Start the Volta (Stage 1), wait about 20seconds. Then switch on the Growatt SPF5000ES. The communication should immediately update the Growatt settings. On the Inverter set 5 to LI and it will jump to set 36. Set to protocol 52. Just check settings as from 36 should already be % as per BMS of the battery. Seems to work 100%. If the battery keeps on charging only to 90% the Volta firmware needs to be updated. Contact Volta
Now switch back utility and the solar panels.
