No, I did not... but still considering it...

thanks, that is valued and valid feedback I never really considered.

Ugrade advice, pairing of different sized Shoto SDC10-Box batteries
Good morning, Hoping someone with experience can advise. I have a Deye 8kw Hybrid system running with 3x Shoto SDC10-Box 5 (5.12kwhr) batteries. I'm looking to upgrade my battery storage but buying more 5.12kwhr batteries is inefficient. Can I purchase and install the SHOTO SDC10-Box 16kWh LiFePO4 Battery 51V 314Ah ? link for reference: https://energytechstore.co.za/shoto-sdc10-box-16kwh-lifepo4-battery-51v-314ah-rackmount Existing batteries: https://www.geewiz.co.za/lithium-ion-batteries/196065-shoto-lithium-ion-lifepo4-51kwh-51v-battery-100ah-512kwh.html Or am I forced to sell my 3 existing 5.12kwhr batteries and replace them with 2x 16kwh batteries? Thanks in advance.

What is the take on the Deyness 14.336kWh Powerbrick.
Thanks for this. Ironically, Sinogy are the company that installed my Solar solution 2 years ago - they are indeed legit. I wouldn't say they were perfect, but a solid 8/10 in terms of their service offering and pricing. Definitely no risk in buying from them.

Did the OP buy the battery? I'm also looking at it with interest... The 0.5C doesn't make a difference if you buy/install 2 of them - 28kW capacity with 14kW available... I'm considering replacing my bank of 5kW batteries. Where can I source the Esener 16kWh ?

Upgrading and different battery brands/models
Thanks... so if I have 2x Shoto 5.12kWh 16S batteries, can I install a 10.34kWh Volta Stage 3 battery to the mix? they're both 51.2V, but they have different Ah

Volta Stage 1 vs Volta Pro Stage 1 Battery
Svolt might be cheaper, but I gotta say, this Volta looks pretty good, and performance so far has met expectations.

Upgrading and different battery brands/models
Good morning, What's the consensus on mixing battery brands/models on an existing installation? I want to upgrade my storage, but once committed to a specific brand/model, am I obligated to stick with the same units, even if more efficient options are now available? Thanks in advance

Volta Stage 1 vs Volta Pro Stage 1 Battery
Fair question... I just don't want to mess the installer/supplier around... we agreed on a deal which I think is reasonable and I don't want to change to a battery they might not be as experienced with to save a few bucks. (The 10yr Deye/Volta warranty bundle is a slight advantage) But yes, I've stuck to the S series to save just over 2 grand because I have a budget and paying cash...

Volta Stage 1 vs Volta Pro Stage 1 Battery
I don't know if the standard Series Stage 1 is any good, most installers I've spoken to say good things, but I honestly don't know. Because I've had Shoto's installed and the installer swears by them (I have no complaints, but it's only been 3 months), when another sparkie came on site to do the COC he called them the fire batteries (which refers to a few isolated incidents/problem that were fixed years ago on old models). People tend to have confirmation bias. Paying a bit more for the Pro would ordinarily pique my interest, because one would assume improvements and lessons learnt would be applied to the 2nd gen, but apparently it is a completely different unit, a Deye battery in Volta packaging - in theory good, but in reality, is it worth paying more for? The 90% DOD was noticed vs 80%, but I take those stats with a pinch of salt anyway... because 6000 cycles is 10yrs away... It's hard to trust the stats from brochures. I'm too far down the rabbit hole to switch brand choices at this stage, I'm limited to these 2 options unfortunately.

Volta Stage 1 vs Volta Pro Stage 1 Battery
Good afternoon, Been offered the Volta S Series Stage 1 (5.12kwhr, 100ah) battery and the Volta Pro Stage 1 (5.32kwhr, 104ah) batteries for a new install... is it worth the premium (10% price difference) to get the Pro? Anyone with experience with them? I can see basic differences on their website, but no real world opinions/experience that helps me decide: https://voltaenergy.co.za/volta-pro/

Passthrough on Sunsynk Hybrid Inverter
Thanks. Not ideal, but at least I know now.

Passthrough on Sunsynk Hybrid Inverter
thanks, so you reckon we went over 12kW and before it could write the data it shut itself down? I must say, I'm a bit disappointed... I figured passthrough would allow me much more flexibility in terms of peak demand which I was happy to get from the grid. I'll have to re-arrange some things now to avoid this in future.

Passthrough on Sunsynk Hybrid Inverter
So is this a fixed total? 12kW Or is it the AC passthrough of 50A in ADDITION to what the inverter/battery/pv offer which is 8kW on their own? I thought I had the capacity to go up to 20kW total draw if all power sources were available. Thanks for the replies.

Passthrough on Sunsynk Hybrid Inverter
Hi everyone, so this happened to me today, and I was under the impression the 8kW Deye could allow for at least double the power draw as passthrough if grid was on - and yet it went into AC overload and rebooted at just 11kW Is that normal? Or is there a setting wrong? This concerns me, because we are making more than enough solar power, and we are also sitting with full SOC on our batteries (which are set to output 160A) and we are NOT load shedding. So why after a peak output of just 10.92kW would the system overload and shutdown? More data: If my panels are generating 6.5kW and my battery is outputting 1.71kW (even though my battery can do much more than that), I understand that is at the peak output of the inverter – but if there is additional demand, the Grid should provide it – and it did with another 2.92kW… so why did the system shutdown/trip?? https://lifetide.co.za/data-sheets/Deye-8kW-Datasheet.pdf according to the data sheet… the system should even be able to handle 2x the total rated powed when OFF-GRID for 10 seconds. We were on-grid, so why did it shutdown at 10.9kW ? I would have expected it to go at least to 12kW-14kW before tripping. Or do I have the specs wrong?? Or settings wrong?
