Pylontech not charging from grid
Thank you @Youda - just uploaded screenshots if that may help. If I may ask, why did the batteries not stop supplying power to stop it running too low.

Hi all I have 2 pylontech US Plus batteries connected to my Infini inverter... been running for just over a year. Now I don't know if it is because of the last week of almost no sun but suddenly my inverter battery icon flashes empty and the batteries SOC lights are dead. For the last day or two the power keeps tripping and inverter shows error 02 saying DC bus voltage falls below the lower threshold. And it seems the batteries are not being charged via grid even thou I have this option selected in the inverter software. Has anyone experienced similar issues and is there an easy explanation? Would really appreciate your views.- Multi string or second inverter
Thanks guys... thought no one replied as I didn’t get email and had not logged in due to this... both options seem workable although the diode seems a cheaper option?- Multi string or second inverter
Hi All I've received very valuable input from members here before so this is obviously my first stop for advise now that I'm looking to expand. I have a 3.6kw Infini hybrid grid-tied inverter with a string of eleven 245 w panels (bought the system secondhand). I have a single Pylontech US2000B Plus connected. The string is north facing but gets shade in the afternoon so I thought it would be clever to add another string to the second floor roof facing west, and connecting the two in-series string in parallel (and adding another pylontech to last longer outages). It seems this will not work as the lowest voltage (the shaded string then) dictates maximum output voltage. So I read a multi string inverter may be a solution, but seems costly. Is there any workable option that won't cost an arm and a leg? Thanks Jaco- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
You may be right Jaco but for the life of me I cannot find a setting which switches the grid off in the mornings😬. The inverter did trip again last night at 19h30 with hardly anything pulling power😞- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@plonkster @Jaco de Jongh @The Terrible Triplett guys, thank you for all your assistance. To recap, I had an issue with my hybrid, grid-tied Infini 3.6kW inverter tripping every morning at around 7 am. For some reason the inverter tried to run on PV only (no battery connected to the set-up) and clearly it was too early to get sufficient sunlight to carry even the lightest of loads. @The Terrible Triplett suggested it could be the incoming grid power that dipped and caused the inverter to trip. The solution was suggested as getting a battery connetced. So yesterday I connected a single Pylontech and this morning for the first time in the month since I had the set-up installed the inverter did not trip, so seems the cause was noisey incoming power! Last question on this tread: my inverter has the following setting: "Activate Li-Fe battery while commisioning" (see picture). Should this be set to yes for the pylonteck?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
So I've got a KETO Battery Disconnector with 2 x 125A Fuses but I just connect one in the positive cable, right. Safe to just cut the included Pylontech cable or would you add length and another cable? If I add length, should I also lengthen the negative cable?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@Jaco de Jongh @plonkster gentleman I've just had my Pylontech delivered this morning but note the communication cable will not fit into my Infini communication outlets (saw an adaptation on this forum linked to a German site which I may try at a later stage). I also note the Pylontech instruction manual connects the battery straight to the inverter, with no fuses/breakers. So two questions if I may tap your knowledge banks again please: can I go without the communication for now? Can I connect the batteries directly to the inverter? Perhaps the Pylontech already has built-in fuses?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
I decided against that option, not above board. So will go with single Pylontech for now and build it up. Again, thank you to this community for great, great advice and input!- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Thank you Jaco. I may be able to pick up a Huawei 100a Lithium-ion at a very good price so will have a look at it tomorrow.- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@Jaco de Jongh These are from First National Battery Jaco - see screenshot @plonkster I am now leaning towards the Pylon with the view of adding to it when I can... best place to buy?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@plonkster learning at the rate of knots 😣 .Will a single pylontech rack not be limited to 1.2 kWh? Quote from website: Deliver up to 5KW* with single module (2.4KWh) - * please note this value is inverter/charger dependant, typically the maximum achieved value is 1.2kW per battery". At the same price, 4X 200A 12v can deliver 4.8 kW? Agreed though that the lifespan on a pylon will be much longer.- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
I'm in Benoni Jaco- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@SolarNoob I cant find any logs on my system using solarpower1.14. Not sure if it's the set-up of the programme or the inverter. It also does not show power generated by PV, just shows all power going through the inverter. @Jaco de Jongh @plonkster @The Terrible Triplett spending money on a UPS large enough will be costly so I suspect I need to add batteries. Question now is which batteries are best? I've seen a Lithium-Ion 3.7kWh for just over R 30k. Or should I just get 4 deep cycle batteries of 102A and 12V each at around R 10k altogether? Or is there an in-between option? It would seem the Lithium Ion will last much longer, but will be limited to 25A and is, of course, much more expensive - and have not been budgeted for 😞 As before, your advise is very much appreciated!- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
@Jaco de Jongh I am in Benoni, Brentwood Park suburb @The Terrible Triplett thank you for the advice. I’m not too sure yet how but will try to monitor the incoming power. Would a cheap battery setup help in the interim in your guys’ view?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Thank you for the suggestion. I’ve only had the inverter running for the past few weeks and that is when the tripping started. And it happens every morning without fail. Most times the inverter resets itself but sometimes I have to reset it.- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Hi TTT Thing is, its not the DB tripping but the inverter, and the error code shows the PV not sufficient fir demand, which it could nit be that early in the morning. But why does it not continue pulling from the grid as it dies all night? Sonething telling it to stop using grid and rely only on PV although grid then kicks innlater. Terribly confusing 😐- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Jaco thanks for all uour advice, it is really appreciated). Changed to option II but it still trips. I have a setting that says “Waiting time before grid connection” which is set at 30 seconds (under parameters). I’m not sure if this is for feeding back to the grid or pulling from the grid, but this can be set to min 5 seconds and only with the factory pasword which I do not have. Screen shot of parameter attached. Does your infinni have the same?- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Hi Jaco Attached the new settings, but it still trips. Second screenshot has an option to set time before grid kicks in. I will try and set that to zero and see how it goes. Regards Jaco- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Thanks for the reply Jaco, I understand people have day jobs too😀. This is the manual I’m using. http://www.giantpower.com.au/assets/files/SolarPower_1.09_manual.pdf Software is SolarPower 1.14 If there is better software please let me know. I’m thinking I’ll play with settings today and perhaps also see if I can set PV to only be used certain hours of the day. Have a great weekend! Jaco- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Hi Jaco I have 11x245W panels connected in series. Details of the panels and inverter as per fotos attached. Given the time of the morning when the inverter trips, i.e hardly any sun on the panels, do you think maybe it could be more to do with my settings and/or the fact that I do not have batteries? Wife and kids are on holiday and has the laptop so I can’t play around with settings 😄. It is currently set to grid-tied with backup and there is a setting that says 30 seconds for grid to kick in but this can only be changed with factory password. But I’m confused because it is full grid supplied during the evening so not sure when this is released. Regards Jaco- Infini 3kw no batteries tripping on startup
Hi all. I’ve just joined the forum this week and must say the knowledge bank seems awesome. I have recently installed a second hand set-up of a Tasol-branded Infini. Tasol 3.6 UNA. I do not have baterries yet. It works though from my settings I cannot yet see what is generated by PV, only what is used in total. Only one isue though is that it trips every morning just after 7. During the night it draws from the grid so I would think it phases in the PV power as this becomes available after sun-up but it would seem as though it switches and relies solely on PV from sometime early in the morning as the error code (02) says the PV not generating sufficient power. I would be very grateful if someone has come across something similar and can share the solution. Regards Jaco - Pylontech not charging from grid
