Checked now, geyser water temp at 29 degrees, outside vacuum tube temp at 36 degrees, motor icon not on on the controller. Suspect the pump has packed up. How would one know if it is the non return valve that has packed up? Problem is where to get a replacement pump this time of year around Pretoria area. Don't want to wait for the useless installer to figure out when they want to come out, especially not if the temperatures are going to reach those high temperatures.

Water pressure is fine by us, no issues.

Temp has gone down, now on 43 degrees Celsius. Pump sign doesn't come on, but the unit shows no error code that indicates that it could be the pump that is faulty.

Water from the taps are not hot. Around the 34 degrees Celsius. I am also concerned if the temperature is really at 122 degrees Celsius. Phoned the installer, but they on holiday, and not answering my WhatsApp messages (Piss poor customer service, reminds me when they installed the unit). Already checked the manual, manual reckons it is either faulty non return valve or a faulty pump.

I had a vacuum tube system installed on my 200l geyser in April 2019, today, 9 months later, the system seemed to have stopped working. The temperature of the tubes shot up to 122 degrees Celsius, geyser remains at 34 degrees Celsius. Pump icon doesn't come on to show that it is circulating the water. There are no error codes displayed, so don't know what could be the issue.

Thanks for the help, the installer keeps the passwords, so I have no access to the settings. Generator I have is practically new, so don't really expect it to act strange. The settings must be the crucks. Will speak to the installer to see if they will consider changing the settings.

I haven't switched of the loads, when Eskom fell away, changed the change over switch to generator, started the generator and switched on the generator cb, inverter took about 30sec, contactor pulled in and then dropped out after approximately 1-2sec, and didn't want to switch in again.

Recently picked up that when it was over casted and raining for full week,when I started my generator, my inverter (Victron Easysolar) picked up the generator input contactor, but shortly after (few seconds) the contactor dropped out. What would be the reason? Someone told me it is because the generator frequency fluctuates to widely, and the inverter shuts off by dropping out the contactor?

Thanks Leshen. Good to hear that the Goodwe had given good service. My reason for being undecided between the victron and Goodwe is what I was told, apparently with the victron, if there is excess power available, the power can be shifted to the Non Essential loads, where the Goodwe apparently cannot do this, any excess power is dumped and cannot be rerouted to the Non essential loads. Not sure how this works.

Which one of the 2 inverters are the beter option to select? Is the victron worth the extra cash? What are the pros and cons between the 2 units?

Thanks Jaco. I would like to know how to connect the whole setup, to be honest, not sure where to start off. Areas I would like to consider is following: Panels DC setup, i.e. How many strings? Panels per string? Combiner box circuit? Protection on the aforementioned circuit? Battery setup, i.e. How the batteries connect to the inverter? Protection for the circuit? Inverter setup, i.e. How the inverter connects to DB, Essential vs Non Essential DB layout / setup? Protection on this circuit? I suppose one should start with the easiest setup???

Thanks Jaco for the reply. Current consumption at the moment ranges between 24 to 30 units / day. Geyser was converted a few months ago to vacuum tube heating, have already been seeing a reduction in the consumption. Majority of lights is LED, in process of changing the last few lights. Currently looking at a system as follows: Goodwe ES 4.6kW Hybrid Inverter x 1 Canadian Solar 330W Super High Power Poly PERC HiKU x 15 Panels Pylontech US3000 3.5kWh Li-Ion Battery x 4 (Might be less permitting funds) Plan is to do the installation myself according to regulations. Challenge is the design to ensure the right components are in the right places, correct ratings used for components, wires, etc.

New to solar, looking to DIY for solar setup. Where can one find a drawing of how to connect a Grid tied system with batteries? How to size the components?
