Hello bernd! I have been looking at doing a DIY battery too, there are not many on the forum here. Some guys on here might be able to help with the seplos BMS experience. I am disappointed you need to use an external balancer. From my research the market in SA is flooded with over the counter batteries which compete with a DIY option. Ordering batteries from alibaba is pretty risky in SA. I need to build a 24V battery and cannot find any suitable options on the market.

I have recently been looking at this topic lately and have come to find there is no fix standard for vendors to adhere to which leads to wildly different specs. If you need to meet a standard/regulation for your install, use that as the guide line as Justin suggested. If not, let your budget decide the best mm2/meter per rand product.

We should get a bad suppliers/manufacturers sticky on this forum. My old mans omnipower 240ah batteries lasted 8 or 9 months before failing. Sinetech also uses any petty excuse to void warranty.

Hey guys, Before I left SA I setup my old man with a UPS - microcare 24v 3KW inverter and 2 240AH omnipower trash batteries. I chose a 24V solution as my old man is a technophobe from the pre-transistor era and he could understand 2 12V batteries in series. Microcare support is really great and often help him navigate the inverter menu for queries. Microcare inverters are also clunky transformer based "simple" inverters which he can understand. Obviously the omnipower batteries have given issues. I need to replace battery solution. I would like a sealed type battery with nothing more than a SOC gauge for him to pay attention to. I previously wanted to get a UP2500 but my timing was out on good price unit and it looks like I need 2 in parallel at least for that inverter. Can anyone give any suggestions on a 24V battery solution which can do max ~150a load ? 100AH is enough to keep them out of the dark
