If you do buy one from that store - I also bought the small LCD screen here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003451100409.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000023.1.305c614byILCu4

It is a handy addition and only about R250 extra.

I don't really want to go down that rabbit hole. Sounds like it will take away my focus from the driver. RS485 here we come! Who hoo!

If you would share that @Gerlach I can add it to the driver

The SmartSolar willbe able to handle this and start charging if the SOC lowers again. The only time I have found the SmartSolar goes into a holding pattern state is when the connection the the battery BMS is lost.

Which BMS do you have for your DIY battery? If it has bluetooth, that would be connected to the BMS using a serial connection and in that case you might get much more by using my serial battery driver and skipping the BMV.

You'll see something like the below. I simulated with a three-phase meter, so it shows three values under AC Loads, but on a single phase system you'll see just one value.
The DC loads value is simply a subtraction sum. It just subtracts what is missing, in this case 489W + 271W = 760W

If the voltage drops low enough, they will go back into Bulk mode and repeat the cycle (Bulk, absorb, float). Victron chargers use something called Adaptive Charging, which means the absorption phase is not a constnat amount of time, rather the time it stays in Absorb is determined by how long it took to get from Bulk to Absorb.
So if the voltage drops low enough to trigger another bulk cycle, but it charges up quickly, then it will go back to float sooner.
If it can handle the load purely from PV without the voltage dropping low enough to trigger another cycle, it will remain in float mode.

So over the weekend I got my Lifepo4 setup up and running properly and moved the batteries to it's enclosure. Still some stuff to do around the unit like running the DC cables in black sleeve and crimp shorter cables from the battery to the breaker and used the old longer cable for the 2nd unit i want to build. So far the Lifepo4's perform really good and still tweaking my settings and stuff.

    Howzit Everyone,
Having some idle time for a change I stumbled across the solar idea yet again, been reading topics and trying to match my equipment, checking what other guys have done, what they use etc etc.
I am in the planning stage but I have some hardware already, I have a good idea of my daily usage but not really how much hourly, so I got myself an Efergy Engage Hub  for the DB and a Sonoff Pow R2 for checking usage on individual devices.
Usage currently is between 15 -20 kwh daily, depending on washing, dishwasher use.
I have a solar evap tube geyser (no element) and gas geyser and want to change from an Induction hob to gas one.
    Solar Hardware (Not brand new):
    2 X 5kW Microcare Bi Directional Inverters
1 X 60Amp SetSolar MPPT (Believe its also Microcare)
No Panels yet and no batteries yet.
I believe a 5 kW is suitable for my house and that brings me to my first question.
What would you do, sell all the Microcare kit and go Victron or sell one inverter and setup with Microcare?
I do not even know if selling everything would be enough ZAR to go Victron in the first place.
I really want to go LFP batteries and read the whole MPPT controller's PIC needs updating from Microcare threads etc etc.
What would you do??? Really do not want make mistakes and re-do this.
Cheers to an awesome forum !!
