Adding Pylontech 3000cc to Pylontech 3000 batteries
Thank you for the reference. I have checked my settings and confirmed Program 12 is 48, Program 13 is 52 and Program 29 is 46. But the Error 4 and beeping continues. I would be grateful for any further suggestions to resolve.

Is there a setting that will only draw from the battery when utility is not available for the axpert

Opinions on Solis three phase grid ties
Can any of you guys please indulge me as I am considering a Solis grid tie 5 k Va to add to my existing system. Does the Solis work with a Mercer 5 kva operating as the UPS. I am in Johannesburg and would like to limit export to Eskom to zero is this possible.

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
Thanks @Coulomb that what I was suggesting. Looks like I have to replace the MKS with a proper hybrid. Now wondering which one would be most suitable as I would like to avoid purchasing a separate ICC and also avoid significant rewiring.

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
Would you advise pairing this Inveter with the axpert king. If so can excess unused PV generated energy be diverted to other uses not tied to the inveters?

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
I am getting a better response at reduced values. But I still feel I am not optimizing on the capability of my PV due to the inverter bottleneck. I also do not have a budget to increase my battery bank. I do have budget for an additional inverter to set up in parallel and reduce the bottle neck. My peakloads are at around 7 KW so I hope 2 inveters would addequately carry this load without the need to bypass. Do you think if I added another inverter that would improve utilization of the PV. What would be the disantanges for this arrangement

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
Thank you very much @Coulomb. I think I now have better understanding of how my Inveter is working in principle. My concern though is that this Mercer does not maximize my use of generation capacity via the PV array. The alternative discussed above to add another Inveter and more batteries appears expensive. My aim is to maximize the PV input and not be limited by the load capacity of the inverter which switches back to the grid. I am thinking of an alternative to put in a second Inveter ( grid tied) so that my PV input is maximized I to my household demand during the day. This will include loads managed through the Mercer and charging the battery. Does any one have this kind of set up? Please advise on how it’s working for you and also please advise if Mercer/ Alpert makes grid tied inveters. Looking forward to your feedback.

PV ARRAY TO INVERTER RATIO
If i do not need a battery bank. What would you recommend for a grid tied Inveter to support my PV array

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
@ Coulomb My Inveter is an Axpert MKS 5K, PF 1.0 Version P/N 92 and it is connected using the comms cable to the Inveter. You mentioned 2 US3000 3.5 KWh batteries may be light for this Inveter. How many would be ideal? Regarding your statement “ Depending on the model, it may not be able to blend PV power with grid power to power the loads. 2 x US3000 is a little bit light for a 5 kW inverter; a larger start-up load like a fridge, freezer, pump etc can easily cause the battery voltage to droop enough to make the inverter change to grid mode. It should change back again in 10 minutes if the load is low enough (the load has to be below around 3400 W to go back to battery).“ I appreciate the potential limitation in the batteries to carry the load above 3400 W. I would ideally look to the Inveter to carry the load from PV and not Utility especially when PV is delivering 3 to 4 kW. Instead it goes to grid how do I control this relationship between grid and PV. I have already selected SBU in setting 1. Can this version of invertor blend grid and PV. Is there a work around for this. I am in a situation at midday where I have PV capacity but the load is being carried by grid power. Feeling a bit helpless after making the investment.

Axpert settings for Pylontech batteries
I need help to resolve my situation where with a 4kv load. The Inveter is carrying this with Eskom and using solar to charge the battery. How can I get Eskom to carry the load. This is happening at 2 pm when I expect good solar output. See my LCD below. What settings can I change to minimize Eskom use when Solar is available. I already have SBU on Setting 1

Axpert settings for Pylontech batteries
What about setting 31. What would be the ideal setting and why? I want to maximize PV generated power in preference to Utility. I find that even when PV is high a high load switches to bypass on utilility leaving the solar to only charge the battery.

Hi Chris what setting for you have for setting 31? And why. Thanks

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
Thanks all for your feedback. Does anyone know which setting I can change to the ideal charge current. And what is the ideal charge current. I checked on shedding and there are no hadedas sitting on the panels I only get shedding at 5 pm

Yes - 2 pylontechs 3000s Inveter is Mercer 5kv no shedding and all panels facing north on same mppt

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
At the time I recorded the 600 w my system had switched to bypass because of a heavy load. The PV was connected to charging the batteries only at that time.

What can one expect to generate from solar panels in JHB in June
Hi I have a 12*410 watt solar panel array. I checked at about 1 pm my Inveter was showing generation of about 600 watts. Is this in the range expected for Joburg at this time of the year

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
Thank you @Coulomb for sharing your knowledge. I will ignore the warning ( when 07 flashes). I have setting for program 12 at 48 v and program 13 at 50v whilst program 29 is set at 46 v. I hope these are ok.

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
From the above statement is it correct to infer that a load above 2kw will trigger bypass to utility per Inveter. If this is correct then I assume that with two in parallel Inveter that capacity to switch to by pass will be doubled to 4 kW. I am surprised that you say utility will not be able to provide the additional required load

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
Apologies if it’s a bit vague. My system goes to bypass when o draw large loads. But it sets off the alarm ( I presume because the load capacity of the Inveter is running above 100% even when using the utility). My aim is to avoid by pass by adding an additional inverter hence more load capacity. I realize there is a maximu due to limited battery bank size and number of panels. But at least with 10 kV capacity the system will only bypass when there is a load greater than 10 KV instead of the current 5 kV. This way I can maximize the PV feed. Is that reasoning ok?

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
What would be the impact if I ran two Inveters on my current battery and PV set up. At this stage I am looking to get the higher loads when in utility mode.

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
I have changed section 23 to bypass so mine also switches to line. But the load is above my load capacity so it continues to beep even when connected to utility.

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
Ocassionally my Inveter flashes error 7 and beeps. What is a reasonable period to operate at loads above inveter limit. Also at what point does one consider increasing to another inverter

5KV Mecer/Axpert inverter shuts down on battery low
Thank you very much for this. My setting on Program 23 was indeed at byd. When changed to bye it immediately went to bypass. It looks like I need an additional invetor to manage larger loads. when changing the programs I noted there are a number of programs that are blocked and can not be changed eg 28. I am thinking of getting another Mercer 5 kV to install in parallel. The current Inveter is running on 6 mm cable would this be adequate for 2 inviters or would I need to change the cable to 10 mm?
