  1. So I've decided to go for the Multiplus 12/800/35, with a pair of 180Ah Gel batteries in parallel. This meets the budget and should cover us for 4hrs. I was informed by the battery seller that a 35A charger would be insufficient, which I'm not clear about. If the batteries should not exceed 50% DoD, then we'd only need to recharge 180A correct? This should take slightly more than 5hrs if I understand the way this works. The person also stated that I'd need 25mm cables, not 35mm ones. Again, I don't know if it's important (side note, I've now wandered off my own topic, no longer going for the Growatt/Pylontech combo. oops)

  3. Thanks, I've now spent further hours looking at router UPS's and wondering if the Multiplus with the Pylontech Li-Ion is a sensible buy. Very similar price-class as the Growatt, just wondering if the Multiplus configs will give me sleepless nights Using my shiny new Kill-A-Watt, the total draw is 300W for laptops, monitors and routers. So we should be fine with the 500w unit.
  4. I'd really like to avoid having multiple backup power devices if possible. I don't really trust laptop batteries past 1hr, so the first option was a Mecer 1440W kit. I've realised that 2x100aH batteries wouldn't run our laptops and routers for 4-5hrs and down the rabbit-hole we went. Bigger batteries, then a stronger inverter/charger, then optional solar expansion. Reading about 50% DoD on lead-acid batteries brought me to the Li-Ion choices. Main reason for the 3kW Growatt model is that it includes wifi/bluetooth monitoring. All of this is now straining the budget, so thanks for the pointer to cheaper options
  5. Hi, We have a 500w (max) requirement (laptops, fibre and wifi routers) that we'd need to get through our 4.5hr load-shedding periods. After some weeks of vacillating between a 3kW inverter generator and a inverter plus batteries setup, I'm leaning toward a Growatt SPF3000TL 3kVA/3kW 48V Inverter plus a PylonTech US2000B 2.4kWh battery. The longer warranty and beter DoD rating made me opt for the Li-Ion battery, over 2x200aH Gel batteries. I've seen this thread though, leaving me wondering whether the Growatt's BMS capability is reliable. Also, would it make sense to mount this in some sort of trolley solution? I will be running 1 or 2 leads, so probably not going to move the setup around much.
