  1. I’ve checked the cables and they look fine. I’ve got the latest software on the inverter. I’m assuming that only the supplier can do the firmware upgrade for the BSL battery?
  2. Hi @Charles @ Backbone Energy. Just picked up an issue regarding my BSL 6.4kw battery which is connected to the 8kw Sunsynk inverter. For the second time within a month, the battery completely depleted to 0%. It then recharged and continued to work normally. My setting for the battery to shut down is 20%. Not sure if this is a similar issue that @Daniemj had experienced. Is there a way to resolve this problem from reoccurring? My installer has no idea what the issue could be. The system worked with no issues prior to this for 6 months. Thanks

  6. Hi there It’s not possible that the energy generated would be subtracted from your units as you mentioned unless you were feeding back into the grid, but then again your meter will be running in the opposite direction. Maybe you might have some other equipment that is drawing power. Just to indicate that I’ve managed to sort out the issue though Leshen’s assistance who is on this forum as well. I must say that Leshen and his team went out of their way to ensure that not only the original problem was resolved but also suggested a minor improvement on my system which was done as well. My prepaid unit was installed on the Eskom side before the inverter to ensure communication with the main electrical box on the outside of the house as opposed to previously having the unit plugged into one of the plugs in the house which is fed from the inverter which therefore caused communication errors. It’s been just over two weeks now and no issues so far. Perhaps one of the guys on here can assist you further with your issue.

  8. Hi Leshen Where are you based? Is there a way I can contact you?
  9. @ luminous & @ yellowtapemeasure, thanks for the clarity. Will have a look at my DB tomorrow to see how I can connect the unit. Hopefully it will be easy.
  10. Hi Leshen Thanks for the reply. That would make sense. How does one actually go about doing this?
  11. Hi guys I’ve just picked up an issue this evening where my prepaid input meter does not connect to the main box on the street whilst the inverter is working. When I switch off the inverter and connect directly to the grid, the prepaid meter connects with no issues. This has never happened before as I have my inverter system for a couple of months now. Anyone else experienced a similar issue or know what the problem could be? Thanks
  12. Hi. Now that you mention it, I believe the installer did not tick the island mode when he initially tried to install the earth bond relay which did not work as intended. From the pictures attached, you can see that there is nothing connected to the ATS 240. On the other picture, he seems to have connected it directly to the db switch powering the inverter (you can see the thin red and black wires from the relay going to the switch & the blue + yellow wire going to the board). Hope the above makes sense.

  14. Just an update. The installer came out and installed an earth bond relay to solve the problem as you suggested. He tried installing first on the inverter, but it did not work and eventually installed it directly on the DB. The relay is not connected to any of the ATS 240 pins on the inverter. Since then with the load shedding over the weekend, the system works perfectly with no issues with the plugs. It seems that the earthing issue has been solved. I must indicate that when the grid goes out, it takes approximately a minute when the relay kicks in to provide the earth. I’m not sure if this is normal, maybe you can confirm.

  16. My apologies if I’ve stressed you out as you organized the Ellie’s plug quite urgently to test your system out. As Leshen indicated, perhaps some systems need them and others don’t. Maybe it’s the way each system is connected, however, not sure. Will let you guys know what the installer does tomorrow.
  17. Many thanks. You seem well experienced with the SunSynk inverter system. I’ve contacted my installer. Hopefully he will sort this out tomorrow. Looks like we all need to be engineers when installing inverter systems. Gone r the days where installation takes place and we sit back not knowing anything & hoping for the best.
  18. Hi Vassan Thanks for the reply, I’m still new to this. As a newbie I’m not sure what the earth neutral bond relay is. From what I can gather it must be installed within the inverter. If so, is this something only the installer can do? What exactly does the relay look like? Is there perhaps a reason why the installer did not put in this piece of equipment or maybe it’s not something that’s common to all installations? Thanks
