Hi all.

I stumbled to this forum looking for some guidelines because I got an Effekta AX 3kva 24v inverter from Germany, which had no power at all.

Meanwhile i managed to repair the SPS and found a 5v to gnd short. Besides the 5v regulator which was obviously hot, i noticed the uC was hot as well so I removed it and the short was gone.

So that being said, how do I order a new processor?

Thanks in advance

You find the exact right part number, and order it from Mouser, Digi-key, Farnell, Rs-online, or similar.

But there's a big problem: the new chip will be blank, so there will be no firmware, and no bootloader to load the new firmware. You'll need special hardware (a JTAG programmer) to program the bootstrap loader, but that firmware is not available, especially for 24V models.

So you should negotiate with your supplier for a warranty repair or refund. Perhaps they can send just the main board, or whatever board the processor is on.

As a point of interest, is it a TI microcontroller, or a Freescale HCS08? I know of 5kVA TI chips being replaced successfully, but not the Freescale ones.

The TI chips have 0.5mm pin spacing, so your soldering technique and hardware has to be pretty good.

Hello Coulomb and thanks for your response.

Was thinking on getting a new blank processor, and was going to ask here for a custom firmware or something like that and burn it onto the chip, I can(try) and solder a new one to the board using hot air just like I removed it in one piece, but the issue will still be the firmware. The chip is a Freescale mc9s08ac48.

It seems this one is going to rest on the shelf, as the dealler only sells the entire board. I wonder if the secondary processor on the scc has a simillar code structure..
