"Solar Sell" setting on Deye 8kw

Featured Replies

Hi all

I had "solar sell" ticked and because of this push quite allot back into the grid. The installer said When this happens and I would like to get my reading more realistic I need to deselect the "solar sell". When I do that, the system basically produce what is required for the load and don't sell back to grid.

2 Questions

1. In a scenario where if "solar sell" is ticked and we generate 6kwh but load is only 1kw and 5 get pushed back, if I deselect the solar sell, suddenly the solar only give 1kw. What happens to the other 5? Will it not damage system because the other 5kw got nowhere to go?

2. Is there a setting that I can switch off all solar (strings) and just make use of grid?

your comment please

If the load is less than PV then the balance goes to waste... so in your example 5kw is wasted. A way to get around this is to power high draw items like geysers once the batteries are full and load is minimal

In what use case would you want to turn off the PV arrays? You could always switch it off manually in your PV DB

The inverter will only ever provide enough power to supply the load, if there's no load (or a load smaller than the PV generation capacity) the inverter "throttles" the power produced....So the 5kW is not wasted, it was never generated! If your system has the potential to generate 5kW and your load is only 2 you have potentially wasted the 3kW of generation capacity.  Your inverter is behaving correctly, all inverters do this.
