MNK1234 Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 Hi I have a pylontech battery with my system. The installer recommended that I don't keep the battery fully charged but rather cycle it even if its a little. I currently have it setup such that it cycles to 80% during the day but then gets charged with solar. Will this help the battery or be more detrimental? Quote
Nexuss Posted April 21, 2022 Posted April 21, 2022 With the LFP chemistry that these batteries use is not really that important ,its much more important with NMC chemistry to not stay at 100% SOC ,ideally you would not want to be at either end of the scale for multiple days/weeks as this will cause more rapid degradation so either 5% or 100% SOC you want to avoid staying at either of those for multiple days or longer. If you dont want to cycle the battery a good 'resting' place would be 80% SOC. Quote
MNK1234 Posted April 21, 2022 Author Posted April 21, 2022 So would this mean I should have it resting at less than 100% or if I cycle it during the day between 80-100% then should be fine? Quote

Yes , having it at 100% for a day or 2 is no problem , for a few weeks not so good... Same on the other side , If you have discharged to 5% then dont let the battery stay at 5% for more than a day or 2 . Quote
