June 20, 20223 yr Hi all, I have a 5kw 24v Victron Multiplus which is currently limited to pulling only 3000w from my 5500w panels. I would like to install 2 geysers with each having 2000w elements. My question is, what is the best way of powering 1 geyser ONLY after the other is fully heated. For context, I would like to use a relay off the charge controller or gx device. Also some advice on wiring this would be nice. Also kindly suggest some decent relays that I can use for this purpose. Regards

One option would be to use the old fashioned CBI load-shed relay, they are quite robust and I’m sure you would still get them somewhere if you really need one. You wire both geysers through the relay and it will ensure one is always switched off while the other can be on. They look like the came from the ark but works well and come in various amp ratings.
June 24, 20223 yr Another option is the dual sonoff switch, because these has dual timer settings in one unit for two geysers or appliances, for this I would recommend you fit two decent relays as well that can handle element loads, the sonoffs are great but looks like they were not designed for carrying heavy current loads and are more to just do the control of a load carrying relay or I use a dual Sonoff on another application with two contactos and its been going more than three years now.

Yes, definately be careful of the smaller sonoff's they cannot handle high amps. As you said if using the smaller ones then best to use it with some high load/amp capable relays. For geysers the sonoff powr3 is perfect for single geysers as its made for high amps. And be sure to tasmotize it for cloudless control
