July 28, 20224 yr New Kodak OGS 5.6 characters on the display are flickering with Grid, solar and only on battery. The inverter replaced a Synapse inverter that had rhe same problem for well over a year. Inverter functioned correctly but had flickering. Voltage and frequency are stable and within spec. Any ideas?

That's pretty freaky. It suggests some sort of weird stroboscoping effect with the lighting or polarisation of outside light through tinted windows. Though I can't see how the latter would cause flickering, only weird dark spots or bands. Anything unusual about the inverter's environment?
July 28, 20224 yr Author Nothing unusual. The date and some of the PV stats are flickering, regardless of operation modes and loads. There is a frosted window close by but not much sunlight coming through.
July 29, 20224 yr Sometimes these displays are connected to printed circuit boards via a strip of rubber (sometimes two strips, one top and one bottom). These strips are conductive top to bottom but not side to side. These make contact with metallisation on the glass and pads on the PCB. These sometimes don't make good contact. I don't know if the Axpert displays are like that or not. If so, that rubber being loose or moved out of position could cause this sort of flickering, where the LCD segments are floating and free to turn on or off with any electrical noise, and there is plenty of that with high power switching nearby. As to why the previous inverter suffered from a similar fate, I have no idea why. Perhaps something in the atmosphere: excessively dry or wet, acidic, ???
