Pylontech Pack - CAN setup

Featured Replies

Well, my Deye install is almost complete, just need to get the government paperwork approved and I will switch from the Easun to the Deye inverter.
Easun (Axpert) + extra cables running in a corner for now until all is complete.

Until now I have been controling the Pylontech with SolarAssistant trough Pylontech Console port and everything worked OK.

Now after I remove the EaSun , I will not need the Laptop to monitor and control anymore and I will want to connect the Pylontech directly to the Deye inverter.
This 3 Phase monster has BMS port dedicated so I would connect to the CAN port on the Pylontech.

QUESTION : Do I need to make some changes to the ADD switches on the Pylontech ? Not so clear for me if I have to CAN terminate the Pylontech or not.

Right now ADD switches are configured as 1000 for RS485 at 9600.

So do I need to go 0100 or I can just leave them like they are ?

Also , normal ethernet cable should work or need to make some custom cable again ? (Deye said it should work with standard ethernet cable but I did not tested yet).

Thanks in advance.

I have not made any changes to mine. Can check in the morning on what they are set (but should be either 0000 or 1000)

Am using the cable that came with my Sunsynk inverter. But I believe it is a standard network cable

You can connect your Pylons both the the inverter and the Pi running SolarAssistant (with the respective cables). Then SolarAssistant will give you more detailed data on your batteries compared to only connected to the inverter

I've been using also SolarAssistant in parallel with MultiSIBControl. Now I changed inverter and Solar Assistant does not provide me with all the functions I had on MultiSIBControl.... but for now it will do.

I successfully connected the inverter to Pylontech trough CAN now. It seems that BY DEFAULT (on my firmware at least) , when you try to use Smart Meter and enable it , the Deye will disable BMS ...

The BMS STOP was "Enable" on my inverter by some mysterious reason.
Now it is OK and have comms with Pylontech BMS.

It only remains to upgrade firmware on inverter so I can use the Smart Meter port for both Meter and Solar Assist.
If I have Meter enabled I can not connect in parallel ...
Will fiddle with the settings the following days and see what comes out.

Waiting for Deye support to confirm the firmware needed for the inverter.

Just an UPDATE on this for whoever faces same problem :

So now Deye has updated my firmware and of course I lost RS485 communication on Meter port.
I switched over to the BMS port and if I ONLY connect Solar Assistant to the BMS port DIRECTLY then I can connect fine to the inverter and read all data.
If I connect the Pylontech in parallel (using the cream RJ45 splitter ) I will always get CRC error and can not connect.

Tested on both Pin 1-2 and 7-8 on RS485 port.

Tried with 3 models of USB to RS485 :

Well, this did not work so I tried MY WAY.

The cream port duplicators or splitters if you wanna call them so are CRAP !!!

I ended up cutting an ethernet cable in half.

Connected CAN wires on this cable (4 and 5 ) and connected Pylontech to Deye on the BMS port. - ALL OK
Then took the 7-8 pins (Brown and White Brown) on the INVERTER side and connected them to RS485 adapter on Raspberry Pi - ALL OK

Everything works as intended now.

It seems either the adapter is not good or Pylontech or Deye does not like all wires connected.
Next week I am gonna buy a good quality RJ45 port duplicator and test with that also.

So now I have Deye connected to Eastron Smart meter on Meter port working nice.
Pylontech connected to Deye on CAN.
Solar Assistant connected to Deye on RS485.
All works like intended and now facing another problem , for another topic. :)
