Solar noob and soon to be buyer, Hello.

Hi, I'm new to solar power and looking to invest when moving at the end of this year. With regards to my purchase, I'm not quite sure how much installation would work, I'm moving to Jan Kempdorp in the Northern Cape. The system I'm looking at (but not sure if this is feasible or if the panels would be too much for the inverter) are as follows:

growatt hybrid 5kw inverter (could be convinced to use the deye 5kw if it will change my batteries faster) = 14,000 (24,000 for the deye)

10 x 540 watt Canadian solar panels = 40,000

2 x Shoto 5.12kwh batteries = 48,000

the total for this is 102,000 or 112,000 with the deye inverter. I'm aware though that I need to pay a professional installer, any idea how much this would cost? Would these panels work with one of the inverters? I'm hoping some of the more experienced people could help me out. Either way thank you and am glad to be here.

Hi @Theo27 if you also have a Gas stove with tubes for hot water and you don't plan on buying aircons then i can't think of any heavy loads that you might want to put on the non essential side. In that case the growatt is fine.

if you can think of any heavy loads to put on the non essential side or even feeding back to tge grid which is available in the western cape. Then the extra R10k is definitely worth it. Also helps with CUD, FOMO and other abbreviations. You can also overload/bypass the deye by a lot. Whereas with the growatt you must plan to stick within the 5kw limit. If heaters and hairdryers are going to be used then the extra R10k on the deye is worth it.

What others have done is paralleled 2 growatts to get around the peak load limits.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think based on your recommendations I'd rather look at the Deye/Sunysyk, seems the money is well spent. Do any of you know of any solar installers in Kimberley or Jan Kempdorp?
