Limit Charge Current Limit on Pylontech - Possible ?

Featured Replies

I am facing a new challenge  ...

Connected Deye 3 Phase inverter with 6 x Pylontech battery pack on BMS and all work as intended ... BUT ... I can see Pylontech tells the inverter via BMS that it recommends
charging the batteries with 198A !! ... which is a bit over the top for my liking ...
I have an 100A DC breaker between the Pylon and Inverter + the stock Pylontech wires seem kinda warm even at 90A charging...

So I need to find a way to LIMIT the charging to 90A.

Possible this on Deye ?

I observed that even is I set MAX charging at 90A in battery settings , it will still go over ?
Or I have seen this incorrectly ?

How can we accomplish this to limit the charging current at 90-100A ?
Or are there any THICKER cables that support over 100A ?
Custom firmware ?
Or could we use BatteryView and set a smaller coul(AH) on the batteries ?

Right now , even if BMS works as intended I have set the Battery in Voltage mode as I had it on Voltronic as I am afraid to let it on Lithium and go over the Amperage limit.

Thanks in advance.

Just double up the cables from the inverter. It says you should in the manual anyway.  ( If you want to limit charging then you'd really need to limit discharge as well.)

Discharge is limited.

Cables from inverter to the DC breaker and fuses are 55mm2 ... the cables from Pylontech to DC breaker / fuses are standard provided and thin compared with the others.

You should have 2 sets of cables from the Batteries to the fuses, which you would have to change. Have a look at the battery manual. Why would you want to limit charging and waste potential pv energy.

Got you now :) When I start charging the batteries they are at only 50% so in 3-4h they are fully charged.

I will order one set of cables if I can find any at a reasonable price. Thanks for pointing out the obvious manual :)
