August 28, 20223 yr We have 2 x LBSA L48B16S120A2 120Ah 48v 6kwh batteries connected in Parallel which were previously connected to our Axpert 5k and controlled via a Victron 712. Last week the Axpert went to inverter heaven/hell and has subsequently been replaced by a Sunsynk 8Kw unit. Currently the batteries are managed by the Sunsynk using AGM(v) to set parameters but I would ideally like to use the 712BMS. Has anyone got a wiring diagram / pinouts and how do I connect it to the Sunsynk using RS485 Edited August 28, 20223 yr by wimsza incomplete
August 28, 20223 yr The LBSA battery is supported by the Sunsynk direct as far as I know?? Last I heard it uses the Pylontech protocol settings. Maybe some better educated users can comment on such.
August 28, 20223 yr Author Hi Steve Unfortunately these batteries have not been upgraded to an intelligent BMS. Still waiting for an opportunity to go to Jhb to get the upgrade/conversion done. Hence looking for an interim solution
August 28, 20223 yr Ok, that clears things up. The BMV 712 will have a VE direct to USB cable that plugs into the white connector. However, that cable still doesn't help you because the inverter needs an RS485 or CAN input which the BMV does not have. My limited knowledge of the Victron ecosystem is that you will need a GX device to make the BMV intelligent. Otherwise maybe Solar Assistant into a Raspberry Pi can make your requirement work. There is an option to use VE- direct Comms into Solar Assistant. I just have no clue what setting you will use on the Sunsynk. Look on their website Solar Assistant I mean, maybe there is a cable sold on there to bridge the Comms gap.
