I have two Pylon US2000 connected to my Deye 5kW inverter and recently upgraded by adding two Pylon 2000C batteries. The batteries are now regularly setting off alarms. The inverter reports "DC volt low" alarms. I've searched for support (that I can understand!) on the dip switch settings without luck.

The present settings (as set by my installer) are:

Master battery (2000C) 0,1,0,0 :  Second battery (2000C) 0,1,0,0  :  Third battery (2000) 0,1,0,0 : Fourth battery (2000) 0, 0, 1, 0. These make no sense to me and don't match anything in the manual (I think!!).

What is puzzling is that, on the Li BMS page, the inverter reports Voltage, current, SOC, temp and energy as ZERO. That suggests the batteries are not communicating correctly with the inverter.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Further to the above, I now have three alarms on the Deye 5kW inverter, all " F56 DC LOW VOLT". They have all occurred exactly when the grid goes down - but not always! Sometimes the inverter picks up the battery with no problem - other times, crash. I can find nothing to indicate why it does or does not crash.

Please, anyone, some advice!

Many people get the dip switch settings wrong as they don't read the manual correctly.

Dip switches are for setting the speed of RS485 communication to the inverter (if using RS485), setting the CAN resistor on or off and for battery BANKS.

 

Check your communication cable is correct, ( pins 1-3 should not be connected), have the C as the master.

I'm using CAN comms, not RS485. I have the "C" as master.

According to the "C" version manual, (Pge 8 ) dip switches at 0, 0, 0, 0,  AND 1, 0, 0, 0, = CAN terminal resistance connected. And 0, 1, 0, 0, = CAN terminal resistance = NONE. Which is right???

On the Link Port, pins 1, 2 and 3 are not connected.

I have only one battery bank of four batteries.

All gobbledegook to me!

I've turned all dips to Off.

The 2000 s have a manufacture date of 22/05/2020. Where do I find the firmware update (with install instructions, I hope)

Try how you have it now and only do an update if you need to.

If you do a search on here you will find it and the instructions. Just make sure you get the right one for you batteries. (You won't need to update the new ones). You will need batteryview software which is on here and a usb to RJ45 cable. Details of that are also on here.

This morning as the grid went down, the master C showed an alarm with the buzzer ringing. I shut everything off and bypassed the master battery, by disconnecting the link port and changing the CAN cable to the CAN port on the second C.

All quiet since then and all batteries at 100% SOC. We've had a lovely sunny day so the house has been running on solar all day - the batteries will be tested tonight when the grid goes down again 😛.

The battery settings do NOT look OK. I'm sending some pics and hope you can see the details. They will come up on three messages (for reasons of size). This pic shows the Li-BMS page - doesn't look right!

An update on the system:- we presently have no grid and no sun, but the batteries are supplying power to the house.

Yes looks as if the inverter is not seing the battery BMS. Can you show exactly the model of your inverter.  You need to make sure the inverer voltage doesnt go above 53.2v. I'd dont know your inverter myself but the manual should help. Are you sure the communication is CAN and not RS485? Was the communication cable in the CAN port of the old batteries?

My inverter is a Deye SUN5K SG01LP.

The grid has just come back up and it looks as though the batteries are being recharged at 50.37volts so that should be OK.

You (and now I) shall see that there are connections for BMS 485 and BMS CAN - and, having opened the inverter, I see that the comms cable is plugged into the 485 slot! ! ! ! ! The other end is plugged into the CAN slot on the Pylontech.

OK, big question - can I just pull the plug out of the 485 slot on the inverter and plug it into the CAN slot? Or must I shut everything down first? Should I use the 485 mode or CAN?

Think we are getting there!

Had a go! Shut down all batteries, moved comms cable to CAN port on Deye, replaced link cable to top "C", plugged comms cable back into master battery and switched on.

So far BINGO. Now the BMS is talking to the inverter.

Think I should kick my installer's butt!

 

You should be able to just unplug and plug back in to the rs485. I dont have a manual with me, watching the Queen being taken to Buckingham Palace, but check the old and new battery manuals for pins for rs485. I think they are the same.

So sad about the Queen. In my opinion, the two most important and admirable people in the entire world of the last 100 years were QE2 and Margaret Thatcher. Amazing people, both, steady hands on a shipfull of drunken sailors!

That's great, glad to help. Yes, didn't agree with all of Thatchers policies but she had determination and stuck by her beliefs- it wasn't just a case for u turns all the time and only thinking of the next election as they all do now as well as the one rule for us and another for them.

Please bookend your old 2000's with the two 2000c's. That was what was recomended to me with a stack of 9 of them.

I had gone through long search on the dip switch configuration was getting different feedback form different technicians, pylon support not giving any cleay answer on the issue instated keep sending the user manual which did not help at all

finally I reached a youtube channel and they were very kind advising.

Dip switch configuration please see below :

System 1 :

4* UF5000

Inverter Deye 8k

Dip Switch all off

System 2:

3* US5000

Inverter Solis 8K

Dip Switch all off

Hello,

The DIP settings for both of these systems will be all off.

The PylonTechs do not rely on the dip switch settings for normal operation.
