September 15, 20223 yr Hi Please can anyone advise why my earth leakage would trip whenever my inverter switches back from solar to municipal. i have a separate DB supplying lights and plugs to my home. No issues when changing from municipal to solar. My solar is not grounded. i suspect its the inverter setting. Growatt 5kva low voltage inverter 12 x 335 Canadian solar panels 2 x 4.8kva LI batteries. Any help would be appreciated.
September 15, 20223 yr Does your EL work when running on the inverter? With that I mean does it trip when there is an actual fault? Edited September 15, 20223 yr by P1000
September 15, 20223 yr Author No the electricity runs normal off the inverter when on solar. (if that is what you are referring to) it only trips when switching over to municipal supply. thanks for the response
September 15, 20223 yr Earth Neutral fault. So what happens, is when you have load shedding, your inverters neutral looses its reverence to ground, a flouting neutral. and as soon as mains comes back, it creates the earth fault that makes the RCD trip. Bond your inverters output neutral to earth, and rewire accordingly. NB: YOU MUST PUT A NOTE ON THE OUTSIDE OF DB TO INFORM PEOPLE THAT THE INVERTER IS BONDED TO EARTH.
