What should the Inverter output voltage be set at ?

 

230 V

OR

240 V 

 

My Kodak is set to 230 V, but when it switch over from battery to ESCOM it will step up to the same as incoming ESCOM, +/- 240 V.

 

Which is best and why ?

I use 240V myself. We're supposed to be 230V in Queensland Australia now, but the reality is that the utility voltage remains much closer to 240V than 230V.

That means that the switchover from battery mode to line mode is less brutal on the relays when I run at 240V. I suspect that my relays are already in poor shape, so I want to be as kind to them as possible. 

However, I have an older 58.4V model with a 1:8 transformer turns ratio, and a 16S LFP battery. Most inverter models now are 64V, meaning a 1:7 turns ratio, meaning that they will start clipping just above a battery voltage of 48V. I do not recommend running at 240V if you have a 15S LFP battery, such as a Pylontech, if you also have a 64V model. I'm assuming an Axpert inverter here, for other manufacturers, you'd have to do your own research and/or experiments.

Thanks a lot for the info. Yes, I was also worried about the sudden "jump"from 230 to 240.

 

I have the Kodak OG 7.2 connected to 3 x Kodak 5.12 batteries.
