Cheapest pool heating with excess solar?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I'm looking for the cheapest possible DIY way to heat our pool with our excess solar, 5kW or more at times during the day

This is until we can afford a heat pump later

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

Pex Pipe Coils for a DIY Solar heater and a diverter from pool pump to run pump through the heaters during the day? Similar to rooftop solar water heaters

That or Titanium Electric Heat Exchangers to literally boil your pool water slowly (or immersion heaters like this: https://www.amazon.com/Immersion-Stainless-Suspension-Submersible-Inflatable/dp/B094ZQZ49H/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=intex+pool+heater&qid=1665591298&qu=eyJxc2MiOiI2LjI4IiwicXNhIjoiNS40OCIsInFzcCI6IjQuNTAifQ%3D%3D&sr=8-8 )

You probably won't be superheating your pool with either method in a rapid time, also not sure how much KW excess solar you have - it's more an experiment in expending excess energy. Much like using Heatpumps you'd generally start your process days/weeks ahead to heat up a few degrees
