Has anyone here gone the SSEG Application route with City of Tshwane? from what I can gather on their Website, the application is a mix between Eskom and COCT and somewhat complicated for residential solar installations as opposed to COCT.

Any guidance will be appreciated - contact etc.

Is it still R120 per month, with them paying 10c per kWh with a max export of 1200kWh per month? In that case there is no upside, the best you can do is break even.

I would first do the sums. One can register as an SSEG in Johannesburg, but this involves the installation of a special meter at the householder's expense, and switching to a different tariff that has a fixed fee component per month. Factor in the price they pay you for what you export, and what I COULD export on an wonderful, sunny day, and I lose on the deal. So I don't export.

I'll add that I would happily give my excess PV power away if it would help the cause. So zero cost to me, and the municipality pays zero for whatever I give them. That would be OK. But something has to give, and I doubt the municipality could afford to do it on that basis.
