I have a 2400 inverter and 1000w MPPT. I would like to add a single 650w panel to it and don't see any need for an installer to attach one panel to a DC breaker as specified by the manual and then into the inverter panel terminals. Am happy to ground mount it too. It seems I need to register it with the CoCT. What happens if I then try register it myself and put under installer "myself". Has anyone been successful here?

To the best of my knowledge you need to br registered to be able to do COC's. If you install it yourself up to Sans standard and the electrician can't find fault he must sign it off or you get somebody else to test and sign off.

During installation install a 3 level db board with at least 25mm (preferably bigger) conduit to the roof and other places like generator etc. Conduit price difference is negligible.

At my current place I asked the guy doing the coc if i add a panel to my system does it affect my coc and he said no.....

This will be at a new place and I definitely need a coc with a tick under alternative power and anything else required for insurance

Good inverter manual will clearly state to local regulations. If the panel is free standing on your lawn perhaps it's not a permanent installation?

If you add an extra plug socket. Only 3 wires and you reverse L and N the previous COC does not cover it and very dangerous. You cannot write your own new COC even if it's this simple.

SANS clearly states who could do such work.
