Hi all.

I recently had an 8kw Sunsynk installed.

It is a lekker piece of kit but I have picked up 1 odd thing.

My kit is as follows.

8 kw Sunsynk

14 x 425 w canadian solar

2 x Hubble am 2

I have a geyserwise system so zero draw from that,i cook on gas and have an air frier.

No pool pumps etc

No split on essential/ non essential as i manage it myself.

i am a household of 1 person so i have more than enough power from all sources.

I dont export to grid (ct clamp is in place) and generally leave the ac on so the system draws first from the pv and then from ac.

I let the pv or ac recharge my batteries and the inverter sorts that distribution out nicely.

I have noticed that the sunsynk likes to cycle the batteries even if there is tons of power.It takes it down to about 96% and then feeds its back.

I have noticed that only mppt 1 often drops off to zero for hours on end and then will mysteriously come back up and voltages, watts etc all operate normally.

I have 2 strings so all is fine there and voltages etc dont go anywhere near the limits

i have attached pics of my settings and screenshots from this morning how it dropped off and then climbed back up.

It was working fine for the first few weeks.

Click on the screenshots and they are from this morning.i just checked and mppt 1 dropped off to zero.

Barring this the system is purring.

Ok, this sounds like a bad contact, since what you are displaying is the Voltage for the MPPTs and the one drops to basically zero, whereas the other one keeps on grafting.... this is a bad connection/broken cable with intermittent contact or something along those lines...

That makes senses to me.Its behaving today but will monitor it over the next few days.Thanks for your input

Had a similar issue a while back. My system has two strings that are paralleled as I only have one MPPT.
Noticed the intermittent drop to around half it's solar power. Took a while to find the culprit MC-4 connector at the Y connection as I replaced them one at a time hoping it was the right one as every time I replaced one the problem would be gone for a while only to re-occur.
Eventually one connector had actually melted and that was the problem child all along. Never had the issue again after that one was replaced.
