January 27, 20233 yr I had this inverter installed together with the BSLBat 5.4 KWH lithium Phosphate battery, and the inverter is set to the Lead Acid battery type with the correct float and other voltage settings by the installers,. All is working well, and battery runs essential loads during load shedding and charges when AC returns, but When Eskom cuts the grid at the start of load shedding, the inverter switches over immediately to battery but I am guessing there's an over voltage or over current or under voltage occurance, as it makes bad noises on the motors of my microwave and fridge on switch over, and both instances my Denon AV amplifier/receiver was switched on it blew the AC in fuse inside the amplifier (Luckily no further damage) so since I've switched it off at the plug before load shedding starts. Then on two or 3 occasions the inverter cut power to the essential load for about 5 minutes before restoring power, I think it may have tripped out, and I think it's when there's no load on the essential loads when load shedding starts, for example when everything including the fridge is off, but when something is on it seems to not trip out but make funny sounds for 2 seconds on appliances with motors. I took videos as well of the inverter screen just after I hear it click over from when Eskom cuts the grid, and apparently there's no immediate errors that come up, unless it occurs very quickly (I am blind and ask friends to check if anything came up on the inverter screen during the switch over occurance). Now if I switch off the main AC db board switch manually, the transition is seamless, the microwave or fridge doesn't change sound for those 1-2 seconds, and the surround sound amp plays as if nothing's happened and no fuses blow. The installers are hopefully coming to check next week. Has anyone heard of this sort of issue, and why would load shedding grid power cuts cause this and not manual switching off at the DB board? Is there any way the installers will be able to simulate the problem and test current and voltage without waiting for Eskom to cut the power (Although admittedly we don't have to wait for long these days for load shedding).
January 27, 20233 yr Have them do a software upgrade - we had this issue at MILs place and this sorted it out. Also the BSL Batt should work on Lithium settings with CAN connectivity - you shouldnt have to use lead acid
January 27, 20233 yr Author Awesome, thanks very much, will ask them when they come next week to do software update and bring a cambus cable. I also want them to setup my app so i can monitor on my phone using text to speech.
February 20, 20233 yr Hi All Ive recently had a luxpower sna 5000 installed. Since then my Denon avr keeps blowing. The rest of my electronics is fine,ps5,dstv,65 inch led tv. What could possibly be causing this?
March 20, 20233 yr Hi Shawn, I have the exactly the same issue, Onkyo amp fuse blowing, everything else seems fine, did you find a solution?

I have the same problem. Happens when there is a changeover to the battery. Blows the fuse in av receiver only. Luxpower inverter. Did u manage to find a solution?
March 27, 20233 yr Unfortunately no solution yet, changed my AV receiver to a Yamaha thinking it would be less sensitive but unfortunately not. Fuse doesn’t blow every time on changeover. Maybe an on delay timer is possible for the circuit the AV receiver is on. Not getting much assistance from Luxpowertek

March 29, 20233 yr 7 minutes ago, User12345 said: The above is what I see on setting 13 So it seems to be in UPS mode, if you change to APL it is a longer changeover which may prevent the in-rush current which is blowing the fuse, or possibly surge protection may pick it up if you have. Thats what I am hoping on mine when I get my AV receiver back from repairs, if that doesn't work then I don't know what else is possible.

March 29, 20233 yr Hi all, I have a luxpower 5kw inverter with 8 450w panels and 4 lead acid 12kv batteries. The inverter was initially installed in the house but due to the noise caused by the inverter fans, I had re-installed it in the garage about 20m away from the DB connected by a 6mm 4core cable. I then started experiencing poor performance as the batteries would last for less than an hour during load-shedding. The performance was exceptionally good while it was inside the house as the batteries would last for more than 2 hours. So, I would like to know if the poor performance is a result of the 20m distance between the DB and the inverter connected by the 6mm 4core surfix cable? Secondly, If you could please advise if it is wise to set the inverter fans at the lowest possible level to reduce the noise as this would inform the decision to relocate them back inside the house?

Hi Giyani. I also have the inverter installed in my kitchen and the fan noise is a bit hectic especially when the inverter is charging the batteries. However i found that when i reduced the charging amps in settings (i use the PC for this) to 30A the fans doesn't run that fast. It was set at 50A. On 50A it pulled about 2200W from Eskom to charge the battery and on 30A it uses about 1800W. Obviously it will take a bit longer to charge your batteries fully but on my lithium battery it extended the charging time by about 5min. I also wanted to move my inverter to the garage but then the inverter's wifi dongle won't pick up the router. Oddly enough I'm actually getting use to it now (fan noise).

Hi guys, I just had two av receivers (Denon & Marantz) blow today after the Luxpower was installed. Could installing separate UPS units at each point help? Also, my wifi router also restarts which is not good when you are in a meeting or my son gaming online. A previously used a cheap clone and this never happened. Disappointed 😞
April 14, 20233 yr A separate UPS at each point should work if it is online there is no switchover. I found a surge protection unit that you install after the inverter, it picks up surges in nano seconds so it is fast enough, I bought it through Surgetek, part nr 952110. Installed yesterday and the fuse on the AV receiver hasn't blown through 3 switch overs, so far so good. 952110.pdf
July 15, 20232 yr Hello, I have had this issue with my LuxPower SNA5000 and an Onkyo receiver. It was suggested to me that I make use of a https://www.apc.com/za/en/product/LE1200I/liner-1200va-automatic-voltage-regulator-230v-emea/. I have since purchased a unit and theoretically, it makes sense that it should work, however, I still need to repair my receiver and test it out. I was concerned about potential noise but this unit is fairly silent except when the inverter switches between mains and battery and then there is some noise for a brief moment.
November 3, 20232 yr Good day we have installed a lux power inverter and the internet dongle worked after register it to the wife"s phone number. But later on it went blank by her phone she says when the husband tried to register his phone number, she can not see the diagrams of the installation anymore, even the husband didn't succeed to register his number. Please can someone help ?
