RCT Axpert VM 1000w Inverter

Featured Replies

Mom needed a smaller setup for her place to keep a few things running, and I haven't seen anybody posting details on decent 12v Axpert-type inverters so pulled the trigger and ordered this from TA:

I'm pairing this with a 200AH Mecer 2nd Life. All In Cost for cabling, battery fuses,Inverter and Battery ~R15k for 2.5kWh (will be using 80% DoD so 2kWh usable)

I bought the same one for the exact same reason

However, I would return that to takealot and order from here instead, save yourself R2000

Manual recommends 4AWG (25mm) battery cable, I went with 35mm instead on advice for a lower voltage drop.

The difference in volt drop between the 2 cable sizes at 500mm long pos and neg cables at 600W is only 0.033V. Hardly noticeable.

I have not verified the calculation and used a quick on line calculator.

As has been mentioned on other topics around the R5500 level one can get the Must 3kVA 24V inverter if more power is needed or if you want to inverter to idle along and ready for higher loads in future.

If you're okay with having a clone inverter, go for it.

There's a reason that the prices don't line up - the clones cut corners where they can to save money and it will always come back to bite you.

I calculated ~ 4W additional load on 25mm vs. 35mm, and I prefer the bigger cables if anything was to ever short I'd be more confident that my fuse can safely pop before the cable catches fire...not an issue if you have a ClassT fuse but best I could find was fuse rating F/gG

I see your point. That inverter will go up in smoke long before the 25mm cable that can safely handle 300A will even go up in flames. No PCB track would be left. Don't forget to add the 7W per fuse if you want to account for every loss.

At this price range I'm much more worried about burning down my house than destroying a 1kW inverter

I see your point, but funnily enough I actually did include the 9.6W lost from each of my fuses 😅

Like I said the manual recommends 25mm, and it will work fine, I went with 35mm because I like `em thicc

Hi,thanks for the link

AND

I got it at the 2k cheaper price, seems I grabbed the last cheapy😆

Sorry to Necro this thread, but is this Inverter decent? I'm looking to replace a really crap MSW inverter. Looking at all the axpert clones, it's hard to choose.
