Richyv Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Does anyone have any experience with the Ellies solar panels? im told that they are canadian solar panels? im looking at putting up maybe 3 panels 265/320 on my axpert inverter. i currently don't have any panels and my usage is normally low at around 300-400 watts. at around R7 per watt its not going to break the bank any advise would be appreciated Quote
Guest Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 I am not sure, personally I steer clear of Ellies selling like solar and last time, UPS'es. During the Eskom failures, I found them very expensive with UPS prices, when they sold the exact same model as the rest, just with a Ellies name on it. And they had no idea what they where selling. If I buy more panels one day, would go for established suppliers, at +-R5-R8 per watt. Quote
___ Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Ellies usually rebrands something else. Usually not rock-bottom crap, but not far from it. The only place I've ever seen Ellies panels were at Builders Warehouse. They did not look bad, but the price was insane. When it comes to solar stuff... Builders Warehouse is like those shops at the airport... in their own little world, seemingly disconnected from what things costs everywhere else. SilverNodashi 1 Quote

Which Axpert inverter do you have? ___ 1 Quote

If it really is a canadian solar product and at R 2250 for a 325 watt panel would it not be a viable option? Mark 1 Quote

But when I answered I didn't know the price, hence me dragging Builders Warehouse into it, where that panel would be on the shelf at R3600 or something like that :-) Edit: Oh hang on, you did say R7/watt? My bad :-) Quote

The 265W panel is usually a 60 module panel that can be run 3 in series on the Axpert, but the 325W is a 72 module panel that is best used 2 in series with your inverter as your open circuit voltage could exceed 145v max under certain conditions. Might work financially for me to start with 2 and then add the other 2. our daily usage is very little and we use eskom at night due to the cheap royal batteries pilotfish 1 Quote
