Hi Forum,

I have a Sunsynk 8KW inverter, 10KWh Freedom Won batteries and solar panels setup. However, during these loadshedding times, my battery is often fully charged but power is not put through to our home. We often sit with a 99% charged battery but all power being down. 

I have tried to follow battery setup tutorials for Sunsynk etc. but I do not know how to get the power on and avoid this issue. It also sometime seem to work and sometimes not. My first question is, is this a known problem if my settings are wrong and that power does not get used from the batteries? 

Second question is, can I somehow turn the power on to run through the batteries whenever this happens? I have tried turning everything off and on to no avail.

I suspect whatever has no power in loadshedding is on the non essential side of the inverter,if you want it to have power when the grid is down you have to move it over to the essentials DB.

It should definitely use the batteries when there is no grid. There is no setting on the inverter to turn that on or off. Even the system timer is ignored when there is no mains supply. There must be a fault. Maybe the battery bms is not allowing the discharge.

OK I think what is happening is that my geysers should be connected to the AUX output, and the rest off the essentials in the home should be connected as per normal. But that maybe everything is connected to AUX output. Is it a good solution to connect geysers to AUX output? 

I have lowered the AUX output ON battery setting to see if the problem might go away.

Either way it sounds like my setup was done wrong.

I have personally not used the AUX so cant comment on that. In the early days users had some troubles configuring it but i see the newer firmware allows for more options. I run my geyser on non essentials.

Where is your installer in all of this ?

The Sunsynk will not turn on if there are no batteries, so this means that the inverter must "aware" of the battery. The fact that you are seeing a SOC confirms this.

If the grid falls away there is no setting that you can select not to use power from a DC source, meaning that the inverter will use PV or battery or both.

If PV is not available and the inverter shuts down because the battery is not supplying or capable of supplying the load then the issue is likely with the battery BMS or the communication between the BMS and the inverter.

What error code do you get. If it is an F56 error then that would also point to an issue with the battery.

Or does the inverter stay on with just no load being supplied to the house ? 

Silly question, have you checked your change over switch?

I assume when PV is available it is supplying power to the UPS ? Can you post a picture of your system flow chart. Does it show power being supplied to both the UPS and the House ?

If your change over switch is in the correct position then this is likely an install error with the wiring in the DB

Again, where is your installer in all this?
