Chris_S got a reaction from fstofberg in Sunsynk 8KW Max MPPT AmpsOn older FW mine would clip at 21A but there was a big problem. If there were intermittent fast moving clouds and the current very quickly hit the 21A it would sometimes cause a DC over current error and the inverter would shutdown and restart.
Since upgrading the FW and it clips at 19.5A I do not have that problem anymore.

Chris_S got a reaction from flatfourfan in How much Eskom do you use now?I know someone who thought they would save money going gas hot water. Gas costs him R1000 a month.
Gas geyser same price as evacuated tube solar geyser that I have had for 12 years. Only have to use electricity in winter and really cloudy days to heat it a little or I just leave the element breaker off.
The new solar geysers are so efficient. Mine is outside on the roof and in winter it's still warm enough to shower the next morning.

Chris_S reacted to meetyg in Looking for 2000w microinvertersI have this microinverter, bought from Aliexpress a few years ago. It's branded MarsRock, but is identical to the DEYE.
All I can say is that is has been working flawlessly for past 2.5 years or so.
However, I did not place it under the panels, rather in a shaded area.
The monitoring platform it uses is Solarman, which is a cloud platform.
It's OK, gives you the information you want, but the data is refreshed every 15 minutes or so, so not real-time monitoring.
The microinverter has a 60v input limit for each MPPT. My setup was 2 x 455w panels, each into a separate MPPT port, and another 4 x 100w (in 2s2p) to the third port.
My 455w panels are 144cells, half cut.
I think that as long as your panel is under the 60v input, you should be fine.
I recently took this microinverter out of service, because I wanted backup energy storage, so now my panels are connected to a hybrid All-in-one MUST inverter.

Dear Empowered,
Thank you for referencing the information. Regarding the grammar situation, this is being rectified. As you are all aware, there is a lot of pressure. Here at SAPAC, we are working against time to improve the industry.
However, to clarify the grammar mistakes, they are being rectified one post at a time. As you are also aware, most electricians are playing catch-up with [fixing] illegal installations.
I can assure you that the site is legitimate and that SAPAC is part of the community within the electrical field.
Regarding the issues being identified, we are working in accordance with a set of specific procedures to ensure that those who do not comply are eventually held accountable, so to speak.

@Chris_S,
After the F/W upgrade and remote reboot, the S portion of F/W version didn't display. Didn't bother me, till I started testing other data functions, and after a few hours of fiddling, decided to give the inverter a cold boot, and that produced the complete F/W version, etc.

Chris_S got a reaction from GreenFields in Inverter recommendation neededI ran my sunsynk 8kw with no batteries for a few weeks. Just panels and grid. It worked fine. But it's always best to have a battery on a hybrid even if it's a small 5kWh
Else go grid tied.

Chris_S got a reaction from TaliaB in DIY Battery ComponentsI have a fast blow fuse as close to the cell + as I can before the bms. Bms is electronic and if electronics fail then the fuse protects against that. I then have a breaker for each battery bank to the busbar. I can disconnect any bank from the busbar if it needs maintenance.
Breakers easily go over their max but a fuse is fast.
Fuse is only there to protect against any bms failure.
