May 21, 20233 yr Ola! I have a Axpert 1kva 12v inverter with a Revov 12v 2.54kwh battery. I've ordered a 550w solar panel to add to the system to reduce the drain on the battery during loadshedding and to help increase the charging current after. I want to have a circuit breaker between the solar pane and the inverter but am unsure around sizing. Is a solar fuse better than a DC breaker for this scenario? For a breaker I think a 63a single pole would work but am not sure of whether that amperage is suitable in this case. The inverter's MPPT is 500w max but it's unlikely the 550w panel will ever produce anything over 500w. Thanks!

Look on you panel they normally quote the maximum fuse size. I rate fuses to operate faster unless it is a slow blow fuse. I would use a fuse the next size higher than the Isc of the panel. Panels do not provide much more current than their Isc. Remember the DC SPD as well as the fuse. Edited May 21, 20233 yr by Scorp007

Because the panel's maximum wattage is slightly in excess of the inverter's MPPT, I'd rather the fuse blow that I'll put between the panel and the inverter than the fuse within the inverter.
