May 30, 20233 yr Hi guys im trying to parallel my new synapse 7.2 and my older synapse 7.2 ive noticed firmware is different which is why I think they don’t communicate properly. one that is SL shows input if 230 but nothing output and also won’t charge etc batteries. 1. where would I find the software to download pls and 2. how would I install the software the newer 7.2 has version 69.05 the older 7.2 has version 45.07 image of what happens attached Appreciate your help and thanks
May 30, 20233 yr My guess, with no way to test it, is that you should update both to the latest firmware on this page: https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/lv6548-fw-update/ Yes, that's for a split-phase model, but the 7.2 kW firmwares handle both the split phase 6.5 kW (120+120 V) models, and the 7.2 kW single output (230 V). It automatically selects between the two based on the voltage at a pin on start-up. Some other firmwares work like this, sometimes supporting half a dozen models with one firmware. I realise it might be a bit of a leap of faith to attempt this, but I'm quite confident that it will work. I note that these firmwares are released about a year apart, and 45.07 is from March 2021, which I think has to be early in the product's development. So there may have been significant changes between the two releases. One thing that bothers me is that there seem to be some firmwares in the 45.0x or 45.1x range, and others in the 45.6x range, and I can't tell if there is anything significant about them. Same with 69.xx. Because you have one 45.xx and one 69.xx, it means that you have one '2809 processor and one '28066 processor. As far as I can tell, they work the same; one is just a newer generation of silicon with a single power supply, versus an older generation with two power supplies. But the core functionality should be the same. The only reason that the firmwares aren't interchangeable is that the '2806x firmware has to call a calibrate function in internal ROM (not EEPROM or FLASH) memory, and the calibrate function simply doesn't exist in the older chips. So attempting to call that function would cause a crash immediately after start-up. I'm fairly sure that I could comment out that calibrate call in a '28066 firmware and it would run otherwise unchanged in a '2809 model. I'd have to do more work to prove that, though. The important thing is, I don't believe that there is any reason that the difference in DSP chipsets should prevent successful paralleling. I hope that this helps more than it confuses.
