May 31, 20233 yr Hi folks, I have recently had a solar system installed and have my solar geyser which is controlled by a geyserwise connected on the non essential side. I have set my geyser element to come on at midday and have set the temp to 65 degrees (maximum allowable on geyserwise), however it only heats up to 55 degrees and then the element switches off. Any ideas on why this would be happening ?
June 1, 20233 yr Hi, It appears in some models that you can go to 65 degrees via the element (video on how to change the settings below) If your model only goes to 55 degrees u can use the sun to go higher than that, you would need to heat the water to 55 degrees with the electric element while there is still sun out, and let the sun heat it past that, now during winter and depending on your direct sunlight, u might want to be 55 at around 2pm already via the element, and then let the sun take it to 65 from 2 - 5 pm. You will need to play around with the times for your geyser location specifically
June 1, 20233 yr Does the geyserwise itself switch the element off at 55deg? Or does the geyserwise show as still heating, but it doesn't get hotter, in which case I'd say your mechanical thermostat (at the geyser itself) is set to cutout at 55deg...
June 1, 20233 yr It will show as still 'on' and could be confused with 'still heating' but it will switch off the element according to your settings (55) until the water drops below 55 and will start heating via the element again, much like a normal geyser works

The 3 flames on the geyserwise turn from solid and start blinking and the geyser temperature just holds temp at 55 degrees. when I look at the current draw on the inverter, it’s gone back to base load so means geyser element is off

Earlier when i suggested using the sun to heat the water further, it was under the assumption that you had a solar geyser as well, the evacuated tubes for example

June 1, 20233 yr Quote The geyser's thermostat needs to be removed. The geyser temperature probe provided by GeyserWise has a built in probe that measures the temperature in the geyser.
