Battery warrenty per setup

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

New to the group, but looking for assistance on getting a way out of load shedding.

I am thinking of getting a few panels with a sunsynk 8kwh invertor + 5kwh battery. Will this setup be fine or I might damage or void my warranty due to lower battery kwh then invertor. Someone told me I must always get a higher battery then invertor like 10kwh. Is this true?

In principle, yes, you need a set of batteries that can output at least as much power as the inverter is trying to draw to get the most out of your inverter. But you are using the units incorrectly - kWh vs kW - and this may lead to misunderstanding the capabilities of the components, and disappointment in the performance of the system.

Here the 8kW inverter can be used with a 5kWh battery without voiding the warranty. But if you choose for example a 0.5C 5kWh battery it will only allow you to supply an output of  around 2.5kW. Try searching some more on 0.5C vs 1C ratings on batteries.

The Battery Management System - BMS - communicating via cable to the inverter - will prevent excess power from being drawn that the battery cannot supply.
