Geyserwise thermostat

Featured Replies

I have installed a geyser wise timmer thermostat in my geyser today and had a qeustion

My geyser is Vertically installed on the wall and the thermostat that reads the Temp is at the bottom , after playing around I found that if my geyser is at 60 degrees Celsius and the wife washes dishes (10/15 Liters of hot water) the geyser Temps drops instantly within 5 min to 16 degrees Celsius on the geyser wise panel, jet there is still hot water in the geyser ,which I only can imagine is that when the cold water enters at the bottom where the thermostat is (10/15Liters) is thinking that the whole geyser is ice cold meanwhile just above that cold water there is still hot water but can not be detected due to the element sitting at the bottom picking up the new cold water, how can I fix this without removing my geyser and turning it horizontal?

So my Geyserwise does the same thing except mine in vertical. But mine happens after someone showers this I’m taking due to the fact that cold water rushes back into the geezer to fill it…would love to hear comments

A thermostat at the bottom of a vertical geyser will only cut out when the water at the bottom of the geyser reaches the set temperature. With a horizontal installation the thermostat is located a bit closer to the middle of the geyser. In effect this means there is some dead space in the geyser. In any case you have to learn what water use matches what temperature.

A relatively small vertical geyser is my preferred solution for energy efficiency. Heat the smallest amount of water only to the required temperature just before you need it.

Get a digital thermometer. Wrap a piece of copper around the geyser hot water outlet. Fit a sensor in this copper. Run 2 L of hot water and check the exit temp of the water at the top. This will be a far better indication than the thermometer at the bottom of a vertical geyser.
