July 18, 20232 yr Hi All, Me again. Was going to get the Sunsynk inverter but have been made an incredible offer on a Victron multiplus ii and MPPT that I don't think I should pass up on. I have purchased a BSL Batt already. Question is what are all the extras I would need to purchase? I know GX device but battery cables and what all else....if anyone can assist. Thanks.
July 18, 20232 yr Author Thanks Superfly, yeah must get correctly specced items. Just want to make sure I have it all before the installer arrives so there no running around after the fact. Like you say, Victron not plug and play and everything is an additional component, so again don't want to be running around last minute. Thank you for the response.
July 18, 20232 yr Biggest issue with Victron is if you fall within City of Cape Town Municipality or your municipality requires you inverter to be NRS097-2-1:2017 compliant. Only Victron's 3kVA & 5kVA Multiplus II is approved for CoCT installation out the box. So there is 3 options if you require more power from the inverter system and remain compliant...either you 1) parallel the 5kVA/3kVA inverters up to the capacity you need, 2) purchase and install an expensive Zhiel relay (Not always approved), 3) Configure the system with a Fronius PV Inverter (or similar) that is on the approved list. I honestly don't know why Victron is dragging their feet to get the rest of their inverter range NRS097-2-1:2017 approved. I can't fault the actual product, support or reliability...it works brilliantly and I would definitely prefer this to Sunsynk if price is not an issue.

I thought all versions of Multiplus II were on the approved list, I checked and you are correct, only 3kVA & 5kVA Multiplus II 🙄 Must the manufacturer get approval or the local distributor/importer?
