  1. Dieter replied to Beat's topic in Inverters
If they registered , they valid
  2. I know 2 people that submitted Standby SSEG applications 3-4 weeks ago and still do not have the SSEG application no or any communication, 1 already has the inverter and battery and is worried he needs a new city-approved inverter
  3. Dieter replied to Geiger's topic in Inverters
I thought all versions of Multiplus II were on the approved list, I checked and you are correct, only 3kVA & 5kVA Multiplus II 🙄 Must the manufacturer get approval or the local distributor/importer?
  4. Yip a whole string of new regulations. 🤦‍♂️
  5. Ask when the BMS was cleared and if you did not do it, someone else must have Ask for a quote to fix it, maybe it is a faulty BMS or cell replacement which will be better than a new battery of R33k
  6. When looking at member installations , I see both configurations , Negative Unfused and Fused Source : https://powerforum.co.za/topic/2322-youdas-off-grid-lab/page/2/ Source: https://powerforum.co.za/topic/20134-sunsynkbsl-slimline/
  7. There is a different COCT department other than the SSEG registration department that checks who has solar via air (not sure via plane or drone) and cross references it with registration department Just make sure you covered , if they flag you
  8. Is there any benefit to fusing the negative battery terminals or is Positive good enough? As long as the circuit is broken, I think it should be fine Or is it a safety thing to have a total disconnection from the battery ?
  9. ... ...The only difference between Grid-tied and Off-grid installation , is Grid-tied needs additional Engineer sign-off, both need Electrical Diagram and COC Maybe the concern is about the "off-grid" inverters , Grid-tied you need an inverter that is on City's approved list Will we see a flood of "off-grid" inverters on the classifieds in Nov 2023 ?
  10. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/energy/497027-major-victory-for-home-solar-in-cape-town.html “From October 2023, all SSEG applications at the City of Cape Town will be treated as grid-tied systems. This means that all systems need a City-approved inverter and professional sign-off,” Van Reenen stated. I would like to know the reasoning behind this, safety concerns? Has something happened? Fly by night installers?
  11. Here is the line drawing guide on the City of Cape Town website Choose the relevant diagram, Add your fuse, circuit breaker values, owner details, and address to diagram https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures, guidelines and regulations/Embedded generation schematic drawings SK5276.pdf
  12. Add more info on the change over switch or transfer process to prove the connection is setup as passive , the connection only switches over on grid loss they can request site visit to check the hydrid inverter is not setup as grid tied
  13. Off-Grid means you not connecting to GRID at all , no changeover needed and no Incoming COCT Your drawing is showing STANDBY SSEG with Grid support Here is an example of the line drawing guide on the City of Cape Town website https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures, guidelines and regulations/Embedded generation schematic drawings SK5276.pdf
  14. So if you have received an overvoltage alarm ever, you are screwed for life, no warranty
  15. I think the money can rather be used to get small towns on solar, allow Agriculture processing to continue
  16. Will the Smartmeter not just change/throttle the incoming supply from 60A to 10A? I cannot see how they will control individual circuits, will they rewire the db? what if a household has 2 x geysers?
  17. the The output looks about the same as spec sheet , maybe grey import Measure the panel size and confirm with spec sheet ELECTRICAL DATA | NMOT* 545MS Opt. Operating Voltage (Vmp) 38.4 V Opt. Operating Current (Imp) 10.58 A 38.4 x 10.58 = 406.272W per panel Source: https://selfsolar.hu/wp-content/uploads/540w-adatlap-letoltese.pdf
  18. Think you just sold me on the Freedom Won, I have a Hubble and enabled full communication but have reverted due to BMS lowered SOC , so understand how communication can be a plus point
  19. Bashley , do you have victron DVCC (Distributed Voltage and Current Control) enabled ? Find Victron settings here https://www.hubblelithium.co.za/victron
  20. ... they do not allow approved list inverters for off-grid use, why not just say so? and the diagrams seem to only show dc-coupled systems another thing I do not understand is, why limit grid charging to 15 amp (63amp x 25%) because it supposes to be off-grid?
  21. So from the above information a lay person can only just double check COC for general correctness Correct serial no and inverter model , no of panels , etc
  22. The line drawing guide/objects/components/glossary is on the City of Cape Town website https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures, guidelines and regulations/Embedded generation schematic drawings SK5276.pdf Depending on your layout the line drawing is done using those components Not sure if there is a Microsoft visio plug-in you can import with these objects I know Victron has a visio plugin that might work, but I did not cross-reference the objects
