If they registered , they valid
  3. I know 2 people that submitted Standby SSEG applications 3-4 weeks ago and still do not have the SSEG application no or any communication, 1 already has the inverter and battery and is worried he needs a new city-approved inverter

I thought all versions of Multiplus II were on the approved list, I checked and you are correct, only 3kVA & 5kVA Multiplus II 🙄 Must the manufacturer get approval or the local distributor/importer?

  11. Ask when the BMS was cleared and if you did not do it, someone else must have Ask for a quote to fix it, maybe it is a faulty BMS or cell replacement which will be better than a new battery of R33k
  12. When looking at member installations , I see both configurations , Negative Unfused and Fused Source : https://powerforum.co.za/topic/2322-youdas-off-grid-lab/page/2/ Source: https://powerforum.co.za/topic/20134-sunsynkbsl-slimline/
  13. There is a different COCT department other than the SSEG registration department that checks who has solar via air (not sure via plane or drone) and cross references it with registration department Just make sure you covered , if they flag you
  14. Is there any benefit to fusing the negative battery terminals or is Positive good enough? As long as the circuit is broken, I think it should be fine Or is it a safety thing to have a total disconnection from the battery ?
  15. ... ...The only difference between Grid-tied and Off-grid installation , is Grid-tied needs additional Engineer sign-off, both need Electrical Diagram and COC Maybe the concern is about the "off-grid" inverters , Grid-tied you need an inverter that is on City's approved list Will we see a flood of "off-grid" inverters on the classifieds in Nov 2023 ?
  16. https://mybroadband.co.za/news/energy/497027-major-victory-for-home-solar-in-cape-town.html “From October 2023, all SSEG applications at the City of Cape Town will be treated as grid-tied systems. This means that all systems need a City-approved inverter and professional sign-off,” Van Reenen stated. I would like to know the reasoning behind this, safety concerns? Has something happened? Fly by night installers?

  20. Here is the line drawing guide on the City of Cape Town website Choose the relevant diagram, Add your fuse, circuit breaker values, owner details, and address to diagram https://resource.capetown.gov.za/documentcentre/Documents/Procedures, guidelines and regulations/Embedded generation schematic drawings SK5276.pdf
  21. Add more info on the change over switch or transfer process to prove the connection is setup as passive , the connection only switches over on grid loss they can request site visit to check the hydrid inverter is not setup as grid tied
